Summary

Plans, manages, and coordinates project activities related to supporting divisionwide summer learning programs; leads collaborative efforts to promote student achievement through the creation, implementation, assessment, revision, and reporting of a variety of summer programs and division initiatives.

Qualifications

Required
  • Master's degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in teaching, school counseling, supervision, or administration in a related specialty.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, practices, and procedures related to public school education and Virginia's Standards of Learning content and the ability to apply them to the needs of the summer learning program.
  • Knowledge of related laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and supervise programs and personnel.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams in multiple projects.
  • Ability to plan and conduct in-service and professional development activities.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
  • Endorsement in administration and supervision PreK-12.


Major Duties/Essential Functions

  1. Exercises leadership in integrated program management to include project initiation, planning, organization, implementation, administration, management, and sustainment of activities related to summer learning intervention and school-based and online summer learning programs and courses.
  2. Leads in and evaluates program development efforts and collaborates with all levels of Division staff and county and community offices to ensure delivery of appropriate and sufficient program services to the target student population.
  3. Oversees program support and technology functions to include registration processing, tuition plans, food service, inventory control, and transportation logistics.
  4. Serves as an advisor and makes recommendations for revisions and new requirements specific to summer learning programs.
  5. Participates in the development and alignment of curriculum.
  6. Participates in the selection and assignment of site administrators and develops and provides summer learning program training.
  7. Supervises work of the summer learning office staff.
  8. Tracks and monitors budgets and provides recommendations and advice related to budget development and forecasting.
  9. Manages data compilation, analysis, and reporting for evaluation and future planning.
  10. Manages risk and matters of compliance related to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and mandates.
  11. Communicates to ensure accurate and timely information to students, families, and staff.
  12. Presents information and recommendations to senior management team.
  13. Performs related duties as required or assigned.


Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This job may also operate in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Per the FCFPSA collective bargaining agreement, telework may be approved in limited circumstances as defined by Regulation 4417.
