Summary

Plans, manages, and coordinates multifaceted program activities and personnel of language arts (7-12) curriculum and instruction; exercises leadership to design, create, implement, assess, revise, or adapt a curriculum service or other educational program.

Qualifications

Required
  • Master's degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in teaching and/or administration and supervision.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Administration and supervision PreK-12 endorsement.
  • Knowledge of philosophy, goals, procedures, organization, and professional specialties of the program.
  • Knowledge of public education organization and administrative requirements in specialty.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations, legislations, and policies.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Skill in teaching adult learners.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate programs.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams in multiple projects.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a successful cooperative working relationship with appropriate school communities and school-based and central office staff.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, provide professional development, and/or present information to groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


Major Duties/Essential Functions

  1. Plans and supervises multifaceted activities of the content area or assigned discipline to support student achievement.
  2. Collaborates with and/or supports school, departmental, and community agency personnel to fulfill the mission of the office.
  3. Leads the systemwide efforts in the development, management, assessment, evaluation, and revision of programs and/or projects to ensure quality of and equitable access to educational services and resources for students.
  4. Serves as the functional lead in the development of curricula or program adaptations for use systemwide to improve instruction.
  5. Provides leadership for student assessment planning, administration, and/or implementation of program.
  6. Develops, oversees, and delivers effective, needs-based professional development and support to school-based personnel.
  7. Observes team members and prepares information concerning observations for performance evaluations.
  8. Assists with the planning of policy and short- and long-term objectives.
  9. Plays a key role in developing strategies for achieving the goals contained within the FCPS Strategic Plan and is accountable for outcomes.
  10. Administers, projects, and allocates assigned and required resources - physical, fiscal, and human.
  11. Prepares and or coordinates written and oral reports and analyses to identify and interpret trends or patterns in data sets that communicate key insights.
  12. Manages risk and matters of compliance related to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and mandates.
  13. Represents the program, department, or the Division in negotiating or facilitating resolution regarding matters of significance.
  14. Presents information and recommendations to senior management team or School Board.
  15. Facilitates meetings with community groups, employee associations, or families.
  16. Negotiates and/or manages contracts, grants, partnership agreements, and/or memoranda of understanding/agreements.
  17. Oversees the work of vendors or contractors.
  18. Performs related duties as required or assigned.


Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This job may also operate in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Per the FCFPSA collective bargaining agreement, this position is eligible for telework as defined by Regulation 4417.
