We are looking for more than a standard GAAP researcher; we need a
Financial Architect who excels as both an analytical investigator and an operational leader in the role of
Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting.
Reporting to the Head of Accounting, you will manage critical workstreams within our financial reporting function during a period of significant institutional scaling. In this Senior Manager leadership role, you will set operational objectives, oversee key accounting strategies, manage cross-functional projects, and lead teams (including offshore resources) to ensure strict compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and CFTC swap dealer requirements.
You aren't just maintaining books - you are building and managing a definitive "source of truth" within a complex, high-volume trading and regulated derivatives environment. This role is a 50/50 split between serving as an advanced technical expert and an operational manager, bridging the gap between cutting-edge trading desks and institutional-grade, regulated financial statements.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Leadership & Strategy: Manage technical accounting and reporting workstreams; set clear operational objectives, delegate tasks effectively, and oversee departmental schedules and budgets to ensure flawless execution.
- CFTC & NFA Compliance Reporting: Oversee and manage the end-to-end financial reporting lifecycle for our CFTC-registered Swap Dealer entity in compliance with CFTC Regulation. Lead the preparation and filing of required monthly/quarterly financial statements, position/counterparty exposures, margin reports, and capital calculations.
- Financial Normalization: Direct the forensic review and reconciliation of complex historical data, leading internal and external resources to ensure a robust, "audit-ready" foundation.
- On-Chain Intelligence: Manage the bridge between raw custodial data and GAAP reporting, ensuring high-volume transactional data is accurately tracked and traceable to its original source.
- Advanced Technical Research: Act as a core internal authority on ASC 606 and 805, specifically regarding principal vs. agent nuances, M&A integrations, and DeFi yield protocols.
- Capital Markets Readiness: Lead the project management and drafting of sophisticated financial disclosures and MD&A for potential registration statements, S-1/F-1 prospectus disclosures, and SEC engagements.
- Global Systems Optimization: Design, implement, and monitor SOPs for offshore teams and direct reports, while tightening the integration between our crypto sub-ledgers and NetSuite to improve month-end cadence.
Target Experience & Skills- Background: Proven track record transitioning from Big 4 Audit/Technical Desks into Accounting Advisory (e.g., CFGI, FTI, EY, KPMG) or In-House Accounting leadership at a high-growth digital assets firm, FinTech startup, broker-dealer, or Investment Bank.
- Regulated Entities Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience handling financial recordkeeping, regulatory capital computations, and filing frameworks for a CFTC Swap Dealer, Futures Commission Merchant (FCM), or SEC Broker-Dealer.
- People & Project Management: Experience managing multiple departments or workstreams, with a proven ability to lead large, high-priority projects and delegate effectively to direct reports or offshore teams.
- Reconstructive Mindset: You enjoy the "puzzle" of managing and building legal entity financials from high-volume, unstructured data sources.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in Workiva and NetSuite
- Subject Matter Expertise: Direct experience with SEC Pre-clearance, Purchase Accounting (ASC 805), and DeFi Accounting.
- Product Diplomacy: The ability to partner cross-functionally with Trading and BizDev teams to assess and operationalize the accounting impact of DeFi yields and "wrapped" assets before they launch.
Additional Information- Flexibility to work across different time zones during crucial periods such as month-end closes.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
