Description

Position Title:

Senior Manager, Finance

Classification:

Exempt

Position Status:

Full Time

Reports To:

Vice President Finance - North America

Direct Reports:

Finance Analyst

Role Objectives:

The Senior Manager, Finance Operations leads the day-to-day accounting, compliance, and operational finance functions for the NA region across three legal entities (US, Mexico, Canada). This role is the operational hub of the LA Finance team - owning the monthly close cycle, general ledger integrity, payroll oversight, multi-entity tax and compliance filings, and financial controls. The Senior Manager supervises a team of four and works in close collaboration with the shared services finance teams, the VP Finance in LA, and the FP&A function.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced accounting professional who combines deep technical GL expertise - ideally gained in JD Edwards (JDE) - with the judgment to manage multi-entity complexity, cross-functional stakeholders, and a high-volume close environment. The role requires someone who can both execute and lead: reviewing and approving journal entries, managing escalations, and mentoring analysts while driving process improvement and automation adoption.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
• Comprehensive general ledger management experience - full-cycle close ownership across multiple entities
• Deep hands-on proficiency with JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne; must be comfortable navigating GL, customer master, and reporting functions independently
• Demonstrated experience managing accounting across multiple legal entities or subsidiaries
• Working knowledge of multi-jurisdiction tax and compliance obligations (Sales & Use, B&O, GST/HST, or equivalent)
• Strong payroll accounting background - multi-entity, multi-currency payroll journal preparation and review
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ADP or similar payroll platforms

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a consumer goods, distribution, or manufacturing environment
• Exposure to intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, or cross-border entity structures
• Experience with automation tools or AI-assisted accounting workflows
• Prior experience working with offshore or international finance teams (Asia-Pacific a plus)

Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management & Month-End Close
  • Coordinate close milestones and timelines with the team; serve as primary point of escalation during the close window
  • Own the full month-end close cycle across US, Mexico and Canada, including review and sign-off of all journal entries
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules; escalate and resolve variances
  • Oversee inventory GL, obsolescence stock adjustments, intercompany debit notes, and commission processing across all entities
  • Partner with the FP&A team to support month-end management reporting

Payroll & Benefits Oversight
  • Provide final approval on bi-weekly payroll across US, Canadian, and Mexico entities
  • Review payroll journal entries, variance analysis, and associated accruals prepared by the Sr Finance Analyst
  • Oversee 401k reconciliation, health insurance reconciliation, and annual 401k census preparation
  • Ensure intercompany payroll funding requests are reviewed and authorized on schedule

Tax, Compliance & Regulatory Filings
  • Support the compliance team for multi-jurisdiction tax filings including Sales & Use, B&O, and GST/HST
  • Review EOY tax workpapers and coordinate with external tax advisors for income tax and compliance requirements
  • Manage waste tax, insurance accruals, and other compliance-driven entries across all three entities
  • Maintain and update tax calendar; ensure all filing deadlines are met across US, Canada, and Mexico

Multi-Entity & Subsidiary Operations
  • Manage accounting across three operating entities (US, Canada, Mexico), ensuring appropriate entity-level controls and reporting
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, including intercompany debit notes, funding requests, and elimination entries
  • Coordinate with shared service finance teams on AP/AR posting, banking, and month-end alignment
  • Support treasury and cash flow reporting; manage RPA (receivables purchase agreement) reconciliation and reporting

Team Leadership & Development
  • Directly manage and develop a team of 3-4 finance professionals (Sr Finance Analysts, Finance Analyst)
  • Assign work, set priorities, review deliverables, and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members, including managing knowledge transfer for new hires
  • Partner with VP Finance on headcount planning, org design, and team capacity

Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
  • Serve as the team's primary JDE power user - reviewing GL activity, running reports, supporting analyst system needs
  • Identify and drive process improvement and automation opportunities; partner with internal resources to implement
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls across the accounting and compliance function
  • Support audit readiness and participate in external audit processes as needed
