Full Job Description
Primary Purpose of Position:

The Senior Manager, Finance Data Lead is the accountable product owner for the analytics product portfolio within an assigned business domain (e.g., Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Commercial). This role reports to the Director, Analytics Products and operates as the enterprise product delivery layer for a defined function / business domain - owning the full lifecycle of analytics products from backlog prioritization through adoption and lifecycle management.

Essential Responsible Areas:

1. Domain Backlog Ownership & Prioritization
  • Leading and developing the functional analytics product backlog for the assigned business domain - maintaining prioritization alignment to enterprise priorities, business outcomes, and data roadmap commitments
  • Lead and assigning/delegating, backlog grooming and prioritization reviews with domain business leaders - surfacing trade-offs and capacity constraints to the Director, Analytic Products
  • Establish and enforce agile delivery rituals within the Functional Design Team: sprint planning, backlog refinement, release readiness reviews, and retrospectives
  • Resolve cross-functional backlog conflicts within the defined governance model; escalate to Director, Analytic Products when trade-offs affect enterprise-tier products

2. Data Layer Readiness & Quality Gates
  • Own the Silver Gold data layer sequencing for domain products - working in partnership with Data Architecture and the embedded Data Engineering team to ensure data layer work is ready before product build begins
  • Enforce data readiness gates: Silver-layer quality must meet defined thresholds before Gold-layer product build begins - no downstream product is released on unreliable data
  • Coordinate with the Sr. Manager, Data Management on data quality issues that affect domain product reliability; escalate persistent failures through the defined DQ escalation path

3. Analytics Product Delivery & Release Validation
  • Leading and developing delivery and operation of enterprise Power BI semantic models, certified datasets, and dashboards for the domain - built to reuse standards and aligned to the enterprise Metric Catalog
  • Leading and developing release validation and reconciliation for analytics products within the domain prior to production deployment - no product is released without passing data accuracy and business acceptance gates
  • Track and publish reconciliation failure rates and release quality metrics to the Director, Analytic Products as part of product health reporting

4. User Adoption & Product Health
  • Leading user adoption accountability for the domain analytics products - adoption targets are part of product acceptance criteria, not a post-launch aspiration
  • Monitor product health scorecards tracking active user rates, feature utilization, business rhythm integration, and self-service rates by product
  • Partner with Data Program & Portfolio Management to support portfolio transparency and participate in recurring product health reviews

5. Product Lifecycle Management
  • Own analytics product lifecycle decisions for the domain - enhancement, retention, rationalization, and retirement - using a defined framework based on adoption rates, business criticality, and maintenance cost
  • Maintain visibility into total cost of ownership across the domain portfolio; flag products at risk of under-utilization or unsustainable maintenance burden to the Director, Analytic Products

6. Team Leadership & Operating Standards
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team of Engineers and Sr. Analysts within the domain team - building outcome-oriented teams accountable for product delivery and adoption
  • Apply and enforce consistent product operating standards: backlog rituals, release readiness gates, documentation standards, and enablement cadences as defined by the Director, Analytic Products

Professional & Education Qualification:
  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Masters degree in a quantitative, information management, or business discipline preferred. MBA considered if combined with hands-on analytics product delivery experience.
  • 6+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, or analytics product management roles within large enterprise environments
  • 3+ years leading teams - direct or matrixed - with accountability for analytics product delivery and adoption outcomes
  • Experience operating as a product owner for business intelligence or analytics portfolios: backlog management, prioritization, release governance, and lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with Databricks (Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog) or equivalent cloud data platforms - ability to partner with Data Engineering on SilverGold layer readiness
  • Hands-on experience delivering Power BI semantic models, certified datasets, and enterprise dashboards at scale
  • Experience defining and tracking product health metrics: adoption rates, utilization, business rhythm integration, and self-service rates
  • Strong stakeholder management across business and IT - able to drive backlog prioritization conversations with VP/Director-level business leaders
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or complex multi-domain enterprise environments - familiarity with Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Commercial data
  • Familiarity with agile delivery rituals and their application in data/analytics product contexts
  • Background operating in a product-based or federated data operating model within a CDO or Data Services organization

Required Knowledge Areas:
  • Operates with a product mindset, not a project mindset; understands that backlog prioritization, adoption accountability, and lifecycle management are ongoing commitments, not one-time events
  • Understands the SilverGold data model well enough to enforce quality gates and sequence work appropriately with engineering partners; does not need to build pipelines but must be able to evaluate readiness
  • Treats user adoption as a product design and change management challenge, not a training event; embeds adoption targets in acceptance criteria from day one
  • Translates product health metrics, release risks, and backlog trade-offs into business value language for Director, CIO, and functional leader audiences
  • Skilled at driving outcomes through business owners, engineering partners, and governance structures without direct authority over all contributors
  • Comfortable operating in maturing data organizations; can enforce standards and deliver outcomes even when tooling, processes, or data inventories are still being built out

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Expected Hiring Salary Range: $115,000 - $164,300 (Salary to be determined by the applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
