Full Job Description
Build our future together:

The Sr. Manager, Enterprise Stewardship & Standards establishes and maintains the foundational semantic and accountability layer of the enterprise data stewardship function. This role leads the enterprise glossary and canonical definitions for cross-domain planning concepts, documents the business rules governing shared planning data, and clarifies steward and data-owner accountability through RACI alignment. The role facilitates cross-functional working forums to drive consensus on shared definitions and standards, and prepares decision records and escalation packages when domains cannot resolve differences on their own. Reporting to the Director, Data Stewardship, this position operationalizes the standards and definitions pillar of the enterprise stewardship operating model and is the first dedicated team member supporting the newly established stewardship function.

When & where:
  • Location: TarryTown NY, or Warren NJ
  • Travel percentage: 10%

Discover your role:
  • Develop, publish, and maintain the enterprise glossary and canonical definitions for cross-domain planning concepts (e.g., study, program, breakthrough, resource, and financial terms), ensuring a single consistent definition is used across systems, functions, and reports.
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in a related field with at least 7 or more years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health related industry
  • Author and maintain business-rule documentation for shared planning data, partnering with domain subject-matter experts to validate rule accuracy, ownership, and version history.
  • Define and maintain steward and data-owner role clarity across domains through RACI matrices, ensuring accountability for definitions, quality, and lifecycle management is explicit, current, and communicated.
  • Plan and facilitate recurring cross-functional working forums that bring together domain owners, Business Process Owners, and stewardship partners to reach alignment on definitions, standards, and business rules.
  • Prepare decision records and escalation packages – summarizing the issue, options considered, and collaborator positions – and route unresolved cross-domain conflicts to the Director, Data Stewardship or relevant governance body for resolution.
  • Partner with Data Governance to ensure the glossary, canonical definitions, and business rules align with enterprise-wide data policies, standards, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with system Business Process Owners (e.g., Planisware, Planview) and Program, Portfolio Management, and Project Planning leads to ensure standards and definitions reflect planning-system requirements and terminology.
  • Support DADS (Data Analytics & Data Science) by ensuring canonical definitions and business rules are correctly and consistently reflected in enterprise analytics, data products, and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Track and report on glossary coverage, standards adoption, and forum outcomes, providing input to the broader stewardship roadmap and operating-model maturity.
  • Maintain a system of record for definitions, RACI assignments, decision records, and escalation history to support auditability and knowledge continuity.

This role requires:
  • Solid understanding of drug development, clinical/program planning, and portfolio management terminology and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and governing business glossaries, canonical data definitions, and business-rule documentation, ideally within a data governance or data management framework.
  • Skilled in developing RACI matrices and clarifying roles and accountabilities across cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills, with a proven ability to drive alignment among stakeholders with competing priorities and to manage conflict constructively.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise decision records and escalation packages for senior audiences.
  • Familiarity with project planning and analytics tools such as Planisware, Planview, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and consistency across data definitions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed organization, partnering with Data Governance, DADS, Business Process Owners, and domain data stewards.
  • Experience with data governance / business glossary tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation) is a plus.
  • Data management or governance certification (e.g., CDMP) and/or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred but not required
