Full Job Description
Reporting to the SVP, Energy & AI, the Director will lead portfolio management of Aspen Power's solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role carries full ownership of the commercial asset management (CAM) function and its AI-driven automation strategy-building a modern, AI-forward AM platform powered by automation and intelligent AI agents. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is critical, as is the drive and innovative mindset to operate as a senior leader in a fast-paced environment.

Location: This role is based on-site at Aspen Power's New York office.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the financial, operational, risk mitigation and KPI aspects of portfolio management across the solar and BESS portfolio
  • Deliver portfolio financial analysis and reporting for the executive team, including monthly reporting, project metrics, cost analysis, and the execution of financial valuation modeling assignments
  • Build and manage the portfolio's annual operating budget, including OpEx planning and budget-vs-actual variance management
  • Oversee the contract and compliance obligations of the operating portfolio, including reviewing and summarizing contract compliance requirements for investments
  • Onboard and maintain counterparty relationships, including: PPA offtakers, community solar subscribers and subscriber management platforms, AHJs, utilities, consultants, and hosts
  • Direct the end-to-end management of community solar projects, including subscriber enrollment and management, utility billing credits, and state program compliance
  • Manage the commercial and operational performance of battery energy storage (BESS) assets, including dispatch strategy and revenue reporting
  • Track and monetize environmental attributes and incentives (e.g., RECs/SRECs) and other attribute-based revenue streams
  • Lead the onboarding of newly energized projects into the AM platform, including COD handoff, as-built data capture, and pro forma true-up
  • Design and own AM processes, and lead automation and AI initiatives as Product Manager-driving AM platform automation primarily through AI tools and agents to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scale
  • Partner with the Operations team on all structural and technical aspects of Aspen Power's solar and BESS projects


Qualifications:

Required:
  • 6+ years of experience in renewable energy asset management, financial analysis, or portfolio management, including significant team leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing community solar projects, including subscriber enrollment and management, utility billing credits, and state program compliance
  • Strong financial modeling and accounting knowledge-including project finance structures and tax equity-with advanced Excel skills and the proven ability to build and run complex financial models quickly and accurately
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to transform raw data into clear, well-designed presentations that convey the intended value proposition

Preferred:
  • Experience in the development and operation of battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Strong AI and automation mindset, with a track record of applying process automation to drive efficiency and scale
  • Experience with, and working knowledge of, AI agents, skills and their application to daily workflows
  • Demonstrated resilience and drive in pursuing demanding, long-term goals

Compensation

$140,000-$175,000 depending on candidate experience
