Senior Manager, Dean's Office Operations Boston University Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is a leading school advancing a healthier, more equitable world. Sargent College is seeking a Senior Manager of Dean's Office Operations to advance the mission of the college and its strategic priorities. We are seeking an individual who is a highly motivated, self-organized, and a data-oriented team-player with prior experience working in academic affairs administration, project and event management, executive support, communications, and operations. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, exceptional discretion, sound independent judgement, and ability to navigate complex organizational relationships with professionalism and diplomacy. The candidate will demonstrate leadership, data analytic skills, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach while collaborating effectively across all stakeholders. The Senior Manager, partnering closely with college leadership, will administer a diverse portfolio of projects and academic affairs programs on a variety of college-wide priorities and strategic initiatives.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Faculty affairs administration and coordinating and tracking college strategic initiatives, as well as administrative, operational, and project management support to the Dean and the dean's office leadership at large.
  • The Senior Manager will provide administrative, operational, and project management support to the Dean of Sargent College, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel and planning and executing events of varying levels of complexity.
  • The role will be a contributor to faculty affairs administration working closely to support the Dean, Department Chairs, and Associate Deans to recruit, develop and advance world class faculty at the college through a variety of faculty development programming and processes.
  • The role will collaborate closely with the Communications & Digital Engagement as well as Advancement teams to plan and execute major events, such as friends and family weekend, alumni weekend, commencement, recognition events, and other programming to enhance culture and belonging at Sargent College.


The role will report directly to the Associate Dean, Finance & Administration. This position may involve supporting occasional weekend and evening events during the year, as well as flexibility to adjust work schedules as needs dictate. Hybrid work schedules may be available needs and schedules permit.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Communications, Education, or related field.
  • 5-8 years prior experience in operations management, faculty affairs administration, event planning, project management, ideally administrative work in higher education or a similar field.
  • Advanced written communications, analytical skills, and project management skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage competing interests.
  • Ability to accept strategic direction from college leadership and independently advance projects in a collaborative manner with colleagues.
  • Strong computer, basic data analytics, organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to manage tasks and prioritize the workload.
  • Superior written, proof-reading and oral communication skills.
  • The selected candidate must be able to handle confidential material responsibly and interact professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals.
  • Must be dependable and willing to work outside normal working hours when required, such as supporting and coordinating college and alumni events and meetings.
  • Highly skilled in being resourceful: finding, interpreting, and applying policies on various matters in an independent and proactive manner with excellent judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience drafting executive-level communications such as speeches, presentations, institutional reports, and internal and external messaging with an emphasis on a data-oriented approach.
