About the Role: The Sr Mgr, Data Science role will join the CPD Analytics & Insights team focused on Advanced Analytics. The role will be responsible for extracting knowledge and insights from data using a combination of statistical analysis, machine learning, programming, and domain expertise to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and build predictive models.

Key Responsibilities:

DATA COLLECTION & ANALYSIS
  • Data Collection and Preparation: Gather data from various sources, which can include databases, APIs, web scraping, and sensor data; clean, transform, and prepare this data for analysis,
  • Leverage Exploratory Data Analysis techniques to understand the underlying structure of the data, identify trends, and formulate hypotheses
  • Create visualizations, calculate summary statistics, and look for anomalies or outliers in the data
  • Select, transform, and create relevant features (variables) from the existing data to improve the performance of machine learning models

MODEL DEVELOPMENT & MAINTENANCE
  • Develop and train machine learning models to predict future outcomes or classify data into different categories
  • Evaluate, model its performance using various metrics and validate the model on unseen data to ensure it generalizes well and isn't overfitting to the training data
  • Deploy and monitor model's performance over time and retrain it as needed to maintain accuracy

COMMUNICATIONS and REPORTING
  • Communication and Storytelling: Data Scientists need to effectively communicate their findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. They often create visualizations, dashboards, and presentations to explain their insights and recommendations in a clear and compelling way.

Skills:
  • Experience: 5-8 years of experience. Proven track record of successfully delivering data science projects.
  • Proficient in data science language such as Python, R and Advanced Excel (incl. macros)
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in data story telling using visualizations to provide insight and gain buy in from senior leadership (incl. c-suite)
  • Leadership experience, leading small teams or projects.

Additional Benefits Information As Follows:

Salary Range: $117,400 - $167,300 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
