The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Analytics and BI within Canadian Banking, the Sr. Manager, D2D Analytics will conduct analysis and provide fact-based recommendations across the Canadian Deposits and Savings business, including chequing, savings, and term products. The incumbent will deliver strategic and tactical insights that support profitable growth of the deposit customer base, increase customer engagement, and optimize revenue margins. This role works with multiple stakeholders and partners across Scotiabank to develop effective strategies through strong analytical, business intelligence, people management, communication, and relationship management capabilities.

The Sr. Manager, D2D Analytics is a leadership role requiring extensive experience in analytics, business intelligence, and P&L management. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial and business acumen, a demonstrated passion for financial services, and the ability to build, develop, and lead collaborative, results-driven teams. The incumbent must be effective in working with cross-functional stakeholders, including specialized analytics teams such as Business Intelligence, Pricing Optimization, Advanced Analytics, Channel Analytics, Loyalty and Customer Analytics, Campaign Analytics, and Personalization.

The incumbent will provide strategic analytical and BI support to the Deposits business, identifying opportunities and recommending solutions that drive customer acquisition, primacy, retention, balance growth, cross-sell, up-sell, client-level pricing, product activation, and usage. The role will also support executive and external stakeholder materials, including analyst presentations, quarterly analyst call preparation, and board strategy materials.

The Sr. Manager, Analytics and BI - Deposits & Savings will work closely with the Deposits business, Customer Growth, Pricing Optimization, Finance, Campaign, and partner teams to develop business cases, financial models, campaign measurement, portfolio analytics, standardized reporting, and BI solutions. This role requires a dynamic and engaging leader who can provide strategic insight, profit analysis, and actionable recommendations on both regular and ad-hoc requests while sustaining a motivated, high-performing, and team-oriented work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic analytics and business intelligence support to Retail Deposits and Day-to-Day Banking, helping business partners grow the customer base, optimize account and product mix, improve customer primacy, and identify opportunities across acquisition, retention, balance growth, cross-sell, up-sell, product activation, usage, and client-level pricing.
  • Partner with Deposits, Marketing, Campaign Design, Customer Decisioning, Product, Pricing Optimization, Finance, Treasury, Advanced Analytics, and channel teams to shape business initiatives, develop analytical and segmentation strategies, size opportunities, build business cases, and recommend actions that balance customer experience, revenue growth, budget efficiency, margin optimization, and overall P&L impact.
  • Provide strategic support for campaign initiatives by evaluating new ideas, developing pro-forma assumptions, supporting go/no-go recommendations, measuring performance against plan, and creating a continuous learning loop to improve targeting, engagement, acquisition, and retention strategies.
  • Lead portfolio, pricing, targeting, and performance analytics using advanced analytical methods and data science techniques to identify trends, key statistics, risks, opportunities, and profit drivers across the deposits portfolio.
  • Lead the standardization, automation, and continuous improvement of recurring reports, dashboards, scorecards, and performance measurement frameworks, including effective use of Power BI and other BI tools to improve consistency, scalability, self-serve access, and decision-making for senior management and business partners.
  • Communicate strategic and operational results clearly and in a timely manner, translating complex analytical findings into recommendations, outlooks, projections, and senior-management-ready insights.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple business initiatives, projects, ad-hoc analyses, and stakeholder requests while building trusted relationships with internal partners and external consultants.
  • Proactively acquire and apply knowledge of business and product strategies, competitive practices, market insights, policies, technical processes, emerging tools, and advanced analytical methodologies to recommend practical solutions and improve team effectiveness.
  • Drive adoption of cloud capabilities, modern analytics platforms, reporting migration, automation, and process improvements to enhance work efficiency, reporting quality, scalability, and speed of delivery.
  • Lead and champion the adoption of practical AI use cases across analytics and BI processes to improve the speed, quality, consistency, and scalability of insight generation, while promoting responsible use, knowledge sharing, and measurable business impact.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture that deepens client relationships and leverages broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand and apply the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations while ensuring that business controls are adequate, followed, and effective in meeting obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including responsibilities under applicable risk management frameworks, global handbooks, and business conduct guidelines


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline; MBA, CFA, FRM, or master's degree in Analytics is preferred.
  • Extensive analytics, business intelligence, and decision-support experience, with strong business and financial acumen and a solid understanding of portfolio optimization, P&L levers, profit drivers, KPIs, growth initiatives, and performance measurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic analytical support for business initiatives, including working closely with campaign, product, pricing, finance, customer growth, and channel teams to shape strategy, size opportunities, evaluate outcomes, and recommend actions.
  • Strong business intelligence skills, including the ability to design, standardize, automate, enhance, and maintain reports, dashboards, scorecards, and performance measurement frameworks that support senior leadership and business decision-making.
  • Proficiency with analytical and BI tools and platforms, including cloud computing, BigQuery, SQL, Python, R, SAS, Excel, Power BI, and equivalent dashboard/reporting platforms, supported by strong knowledge of advanced analytical concepts and methodologies.
  • Proven ability to extract, interpret, and translate complex data into meaningful, actionable business insights quickly, accurately, and effectively.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate business needs, identify emerging risks and opportunities, challenge existing approaches, and recommend practical solutions that improve business outcomes and team effectiveness.
  • Strong commitment to adopting new tools, technologies, automation, and process improvements to increase work efficiency, improve scalability, standardize reporting, and enhance the quality and timeliness of analytics and BI delivery.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify, evaluate, and apply practical AI use cases within analytics and BI workflows to accelerate insight generation, improve analytical quality, automate repeatable tasks, and support responsible, effective adoption across teams.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business partners, senior stakeholders, and broad audiences.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, project management, relationship-building, and people-management skills, with the ability to assess and manage multiple ongoing requests with urgency.
  • Proven leadership capability, including the ability to lead, develop, motivate, and guide productive analytics and BI teams in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
