Canadian Business Banking is transforming how credit risk events, delinquencies, overdrafts, and early warning signals are identified, managed and escalated across the business. Project Sentinel is a strategic, multi-year transformation program designed to centralize and automate risk management activities, improve portfolio performance, strengthen operational controls and enhance customer outcomes.
We are seeking an experienced business leader to assume ownership of Project Sentinel and guide the program through its next phase of delivery. The successful candidate will lead business strategy, stakeholder management, requirements governance, operational design, change execution and benefits realization across a complex ecosystem of business and technology partners.
This role requires an individual who can operate comfortably at both the strategic and tactical levels, influence senior executives, translate complex business requirements into actionable outcomes, and drive execution across multiple delivery teams.
Key Accountabilities
Business Leadership & Strategy
- Act as the business lead and primary owner for the Sentinel transformation roadmap.
- Define and maintain the strategic vision, business case and target operating model for Sentinel.
- Support development and champion the business case (IAAP process, financial toolkit) for strategic initiatives.
- Ensure delivery remains aligned to CBB's risk management, operational effectiveness and customer experience objectives.
- Identify opportunities to further modernize credit risk and account management processes across Business Banking.
- Lead prioritization and roadmap decisions across MVP3, MVP4 and MVP5 initiatives.
Program & Transformation Delivery
- Lead end-to-end business delivery of a complex, multi-workstream transformation program.
- Partner closely with Technology, Analytics, Collections, Credit Risk, Operations and Vendor teams to execute key milestones.
- Establish and manage business requirements, scope governance, risks, dependencies and issue resolution.
- Help identify funding requirements for current and future fiscal years for ongoing initiatives.
- Ensure operational readiness, process implementation and successful transition into business-as-usual operations.
- Drive disciplined delivery against regulatory, audit and business commitments.
Operating Model & Process Design
- Design and implement future-state operating models that centralize and automate risk management activities.
- Lead process redesign impacting Relationship Managers, BBSA, Collections Teams, Middle Office and other operational stakeholders.
- Ensure new processes are scalable, efficient and aligned with control requirements.
- Establish business measures to monitor effectiveness, adoption and operational performance.
- Support validation and approval of change in production post implementation for initiatives that you support.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across Canadian Business Banking, Credit Risk, Operations, Technology and Enterprise Collections.
- Manage and integrate conversations between the product, operations, change management and reporting teams to ensure business processes are clearly defined and provide adequate coverage.
- Support key steerco conversations as well as drive alignment on decisions at governance forums such as Decision Forums.
- Present recommendations, status updates, business cases and risk assessments to executive audiences.
- Lead discussions with internal and external delivery partners and vendors.
- Influence decisions across multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of leadership experience within Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Collections, Credit Risk, Operations, Transformation or related functions.
- Extensive experience leading large-scale business transformation initiatives with technology dependencies.
- Strong understanding of:
- Business Banking lending and deposit products.
- Credit risk management and collections processes.
- Early Warning Signals and portfolio monitoring practices.
- Operational risk and control environments.
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence senior executives.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation and executive presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred
- Experience with Enterprise Collections Platform (ECP), Client Compass, Business Connect, MECH, MDIF or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience working in a regulated financial services environment.
- Experience leading vendor-supported technology implementations.
- Knowledge of audit, risk governance and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- PMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma or similar certification.

Success Measures (First 18 Months)
- Establish clear ownership, governance and roadmap for remaining Sentinel deliverables.
- Successfully implement MVP2.2 and 2.5, advance MVP3, 4 & 5 implementation and associated operating model changes.
- Deliver measurable improvements in risk management efficiency and effectiveness.
- Enable successful implementation and scale Middle Office capabilities.
- Strengthen stakeholder confidence and executive visibility into program progress.
- Build sustainable governance and operational processes supporting long-term program success.

$85,500.00 - $185,000.00
Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
