About the Team:

The Corporate Development function at Wealthsimple is a small but high-impact team responsible for accelerating the company's growth through mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, and strategic partnerships. We're looking for someone who can seamlessly swing between corporate strategy projects to identify avenues for scalable growth and tactical deal execution to catalyze our highest priorities. You will work with product, engineering, and business leadership to identify, evaluate, and execute on inorganic growth opportunities that give our company access to best-in-class product, technology, and talent. You will own the development of rigorous analyses to evaluate build / buy / partner scenarios with the goal of providing strategic recommendations to the leadership team. This is a great role for someone who is an innovative thinker and wants to help bend the company's growth trajectory.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Partner with leaders across the company to identify strategic opportunities that can accelerate our product roadmap and business strategy
  • Be a subject matter expert on the competitive landscape and industry trends; leverage your market insights to develop the business case for growth opportunities via product expansion or partnership distribution strategies
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses including build / buy / partner considerations, financial forecasting, and valuation modeling
  • Manage all stages of a deal process - including inbound / outbound sourcing, deal assessment, valuation, negotiations, due diligence, structuring, closing processes, and post-deal integration - while coordinating across a large cross-functional team
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders across all functions and seniority levels, as well as with external parties in our ecosystem (VCs, founders, investment banks, etc.)

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, or private equity
  • Proactive ownership mindset and can thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Passion for high growth tech, FinTech, and traditional FinServices
  • Ability to think strategically and leverage a combination of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, business judgment, and product intuition
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with exceptional ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses
  • Superior financial modeling and valuation skills (including DCF, comps analysis, etc.)
  • High EQ and interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to balance multiple high-priority projects and collaborate / coordinate across large cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills (verbal + written) and can deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner
