Job DescriptionAs a Senior Manager of Development you will own and manage a team of software engineers and software development managers responsible for software architecture and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You should become comfortable with low level operating systems development, be able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and higher level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.This role will drive major aspects of our product definition, contribute to the product strategy of our solutions, and contribute to the development of next generation Identity capabilities for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Lead and manage a software engineering team responsible for the design, development, debugging, testing, and delivery of software applications, operating systems, databases, tools, and platform components.
- Apply knowledge of software architecture and engineering practices to guide development activities and ensure solutions align with established design specifications and standards.
- Oversee enhancements to existing software architectures while identifying and recommending opportunities to improve scalability, maintainability, reliability, and overall design.
- Manage activities across multiple functional areas, ensuring effective operational planning and execution in alignment with corporate objectives and standards.
- Develop and contribute to short-, medium-, and long-term plans that support organizational and strategic objectives.
- Partner across functional areas and regularly engage with senior management and executives to align priorities, address dependencies, and ensure business and engineering objectives are achieved.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership, using sound analytical judgment to resolve complex engineering and product development challenges.
- Influence decisions and build alignment across stakeholders, including in complex or sensitive situations.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and manage engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
Qualifications - BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading engineering teams or major technical initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead delivery of backend services, platform capabilities, infrastructure, workflow automation, operational tooling, and related enterprise-scale solutions.
- Strong system design and architecture skills, including data modeling, API design, distributed systems, scalability, performance, reliability, and operational tradeoffs.
- Experience with cloud-native development and operations; experience with OCI is preferred, with AWS, Azure, or GCP also relevant.
- Strong understanding of IAM, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, and secure software development and delivery practices.
- Experience building or supporting developer tooling, test automation, release and deployment tooling, observability solutions, or operational dashboards.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, product, operations, security, infrastructure, and other functions to deliver results in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
- Proficiency in **Java and Python**; familiarity with Go, C#, or other enterprise software development languages is a plus.
- Experience with modern engineering practices, including automation and AI-assisted software development and delivery, is preferred.
QualificationsUS: Hiring Range in USD from: $146,300 to $306,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
