About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Consulting - Small Business Insurance, you will make an impact by helping insurance clients modernise and transform their business operations across underwriting, policy administration, billing, claims, product, and customer experience functions. You will bring strong knowledge of the Small Business Insurance domain and work closely with client stakeholders, business leaders, technology teams, and cross-functional Cognizant delivery teams to define business needs, shape solution approaches, and support successful transformation outcomes.

You will be a valued member of Cognizant Consulting's Insurance practice, helping clients improve operational efficiency, strengthen business processes, and enable modern insurance capabilities across the policy lifecycle. The hiring manager specifically identified Small Business Insurance experience as a key requirement, with Guidewire experience considered an asset.

In This Role, You Will
  • Lead business and consulting workstreams for Small Business Insurance transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand current-state processes, pain points, business priorities, and future-state needs.
  • Support transformation across core insurance operations, including underwriting, policy administration, billing, claims, product management, and customer servicing.
  • Translate business requirements into functional capabilities, process flows, user stories, business rules, and solution documentation.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, walkthroughs, and working sessions with business and technology teams.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities across Small Business Insurance operations and help define practical, scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with technology, delivery, QA, and product teams to ensure business requirements are clearly understood and delivered successfully.
  • Support Guidewire-related transformation or enhancement initiatives where applicable.
  • Provide consulting guidance on operating model, process optimization, workflow design, and business readiness.
  • Contribute to project governance, status reporting, RAID management, stakeholder communications, and delivery planning.
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders and act as a bridge between business and technology teams.
  • Coach junior consultants and business analysts while promoting strong consulting discipline and delivery quality.

What You Must Have to Be Considered
  • Strong experience in Property & Casualty Insurance, with specific exposure to Small Business Insurance.
  • Experience working on insurance transformation, operations improvement, system implementation, or modernisation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of insurance business processes across underwriting, policy lifecycle, billing, claims, servicing, and customer experience.
  • Senior Manager-level consulting experience, including the ability to lead client-facing workstreams and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, process flows, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and translate business challenges into practical solution recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

These Will Help You Succeed
  • Experience with Guidewire products such as PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, or related Guidewire ecosystem tools.
  • Experience supporting core insurance platform implementations or enhancements.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience working across business, technology, QA, vendor, and delivery teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex business issues and create clear, executive-ready recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Consulting experience within a large professional services, technology consulting, or insurance advisory environment.
  • Understanding of insurance product configuration, rating, workflow, data, reporting, or integration considerations.

Work Model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring three (3) days per week onsite at the client's location in Toronto, Ontario, with flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days. Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: CAD $126,000 - $148,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and business requirements.
