Senior Manager, Compliance and Regulatory Engagement
Location: On-site in Bradenton, FL
Base Salary Rate: $171,551 - 201,825 per year

About This Role
The Senior Manager, Compliance and Regulatory Engagement is responsible for shaping the execution of the company's global compliance and regulatory strategies for fire and life safety products. This role serves as the bridge between external regulatory engagement and internal compliance execution, ensuring alignment between evolving codes, standards, certification requirements, and product development activities.
The position oversees systems compliance engineering resources and regulatory initiatives while maintaining strong working relationships with certification agencies, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), industry organizations, and regulatory bodies. The Senior Manager partners closely with engineering, product management, quality, sourcing, and operations teams to proactively identify regulatory risks, drive certification strategies, and ensure successful market access globally.
This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering and provides leadership to the Manager of Systems Compliance Engineering and associated compliance engineering resources.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance Leadership
- Lead execution of global compliance and certification strategies aligned with business objectives and product roadmaps.
- Translate code, standards, and regulatory changes into actionable requirements for engineering and product development teams.
- Ensure compliance activities support product launches, sustaining engineering efforts, and international market expansion.
- Develop and maintain governance processes for regulatory compliance across the product lifecycle.
- Serve as a key internal subject matter expert on codes, standards, certifications, and environmental compliance requirements.
Regulatory Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with UL, ULC, FM, CSFM, NYFD, FCC, Industry Canada, CE Notified Bodies, and other certification organizations.
- Participate in regulatory, industry, and standards activities as assigned.
- Support engagement with AHJs, certification agencies, government organizations, and industry associations.
- Coordinate compliance and regulatory activities across multiple regions and business functions.
- Support code interpretation and resolution of complex compliance issues affecting product development or market access.
Compliance Engineering Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the Systems Compliance Engineering team.
- Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and certification planning to support business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance engineering processes, certification cycle times, and regulatory effectiveness.
- Establish metrics and reporting for compliance performance, certification status, and regulatory risks.
- Guide teams through complex certification projects and regulatory investigations.
Environmental & Product Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee global environmental compliance programs including RoHS, REACH, PFAS, TSCA, POPs, Proposition 65, China RoHS, and related regulations.
- Ensure processes are in place to monitor emerging environmental regulations and assess business impacts.
- Partner with sourcing and product development teams to ensure material and component compliance requirements are maintained globally.
Risk Management & Business Support
- Identify and communicate regulatory risks, compliance challenges, and potential barriers to market entry.
- Provide compliance assessments for new technologies, product architectures, and strategic initiatives.
- Support business decision-making through regulatory impact analysis and compliance guidance.
- Prepare summaries and recommendations regarding compliance status, regulatory developments, and certification strategies.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
- 7+ years' progressive experience in compliance engineering, regulatory affairs, product certification, or fire and life safety systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance programs and certification activities across multiple product lines.
- Working knowledge of UL, ULC, FM, FCC, Industry Canada, CE requirements, and other global certification frameworks.
- Experience interpreting and applying building, fire, installation, and product standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects involving engineering, product management, quality, and operations.
- Strong leadership experience managing technical teams or regulatory professionals.
- Experience participating in codes and standards development organizations.
- Experience interacting with AHJs, government agencies, and certification bodies.
- Knowledge of global environmental compliance requirements including RoHS, REACH, PFAS, TSCA, and related regulations.
- Experience supporting international market approvals and regulatory strategies.
- Professional engineering license or industry certifications.
Compensation and Benefits
