Full Job Description
Overview

The Senior Manager, Client Strategy and Execution is the senior execution owner for assigned workstreams and smaller initiatives. This role is a more independent and higher-judgment version of the Manager role, accountable for day-to-day execution quality, project rhythm, timeline discipline, cross-functional coordination, and pre-client readiness. The Senior Manager should reduce the amount of oversight required from account leaders while continuing to build toward emerging account ownership.

Role Differentiation
  • Owns multiple concurrent workstreams with greater independence, stronger judgment, and less day-to-day oversight than a Manager.
  • Serves as the first escalation point for execution issues before they move to an Associate Director or Director.
  • Responsible for raising execution standards across projects by coaching Managers and junior team members on ownership, quality, timing, and communication.
  • Operates as a bridge between execution leadership and emerging account ownership.

Responsibilities

Execution Leadership
  • Serve as the accountable execution lead for assigned workstreams, ensuring timelines, workplans, deliverables, and dependencies are actively managed.
  • Lead day-to-day team coordination, workload assignment, project planning, status tracking, and proactive risk management across multiple active workstreams.
  • Anticipate execution barriers and resolve issues where possible before escalating to Associate Directors or Directors.

Client and Workstream Ownership
  • Lead portions of client communication, status meetings, and workstream discussions with increasing independence.
  • Support proposal development, organic growth identification, client competitive environment assessment, and opportunity positioning.
  • Translate client priorities into practical execution plans, team assignments, and deliverable expectations.

Quality and Insight Development
  • Own pre-client quality review for assigned deliverables and ensure work product is accurate, complete, and aligned to expectations.
  • Guide therapeutic area research, payer data review, competitive monitoring, market research support, and insight reporting.
  • Ensure MLR submission and revision coordination is organized, accurate, and aligned to project needs.

Process and Operational Improvement
  • Identify process improvements and execution efficiencies that improve quality, speed, handoffs, or team clarity.
  • Support resource request escalation by providing clear context on workload, timing, scope, and risk.
  • Maintain strong therapeutic and regulatory knowledge relevant to assigned accounts and projects.

Coaching and Development
  • Coach Managers and junior team members on ownership, project discipline, client communication, and work product quality.
  • Contribute to performance feedback and development conversations by providing clear examples of strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities.

Critical Capabilities
  • Senior project execution
  • Workstream leadership
  • Quality assurance judgment
  • Risk management
  • Coaching and feedback
  • Client-ready communication
  • Operational discipline
  • Developing commercial awareness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, healthcare, communications, life sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in client services, consulting, market access, healthcare, pharmaceutical communications, strategy, operations, project delivery, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple workstreams with increasing independence, manage timelines and dependencies, and anticipate execution risks before escalation is required.
  • Experience coaching junior team members and improving execution quality, communication, and project discipline across assigned workstreams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and follow-through skills.
  • Proficiency with standard business applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Success Measures
  • Workstreams require less day-to-day oversight from Directors.
  • Project teams have clear direction, strong coordination, and visible progress.
  • Deliverables are consistently prepared for account leader review.
