Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Location: Hybrid within Greater Houston, TX

Salary Range: $99,213 - $116,721

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Summary

This role provides strategic and administrative leadership for the Division of Pediatric Critical Care. It serves as a key liaison between Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), collaborating with stakeholders to support and enhance operational effectiveness within the division. The position plays a vital role in advancing the College's missions in education, research, and clinical care through administrative support. Additionally, this role includes supervisory responsibilities, overseeing the work of staff-level team members.

The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and understand that the role of Senior Manager of Business Operations inherently involves a service-oriented mindset. Faculty members and other key stakeholders are considered internal clients, and it is essential to provide responsive, high-quality support to advance the mission of the College. A commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and customer service excellence is fundamental to success in this position.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong collaboration skills, working effectively with administrative and research staff, as well as leadership across both Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and Texas Children's Hospital (TCH). Given the dual-institution environment, BCM staff operating at TCH must be adaptable and open to learning the distinct processes and workflows of both organizations. Flexibility and a willingness to navigate differing institutional procedures are essential. Additionally, the candidate must understand that supporting clinical providers means prioritizing patient care at all times. All administrative efforts should reflect a commitment to enabling and enhancing the Division's clinical mission.

This position may be eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement after a 90-day training period.

This position will start on October 6th or later.

Job Duties

  • Provides administrative oversight for over 200 faculty, staff, and trainees across four campuses within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Reviews and approves purchase orders and check requests related to faculty expenditures, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversees the approval process for faculty travel, including trip requests and expense reports, supporting academic and research productivity across the Division.
  • Manages all human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation actions, training, performance management, disciplinary actions, offboarding, and terminations.
  • Partners with Division leadership to evaluate staffing needs, prepare justifications for new positions, and coordinate hiring submissions.
  • Leads and supports special projects and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing business operations within Pediatric Critical Care.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with the Research Office for pre- and post-award grant administration, ensuring timely and accurate support for faculty research activities.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors personnel, research, and operational budgets in collaboration with section and hospital leadership, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic goals.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
