What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Director, of Retail Investments Technology, we are looking for a Sr. Manager, Business Systems Analysis & Governance who will lead and manage a team of Business System Analysts that support the delivery of Acquisitions and Risk-based Business initiatives that are transformational, innovative, and regulatory in nature. The role is responsible for managing BSA resource allocation and providing oversight across all projects within the group. This role will be accountable for building the capabilities of the BSA team by identifying, recruiting, and retaining talent, and by mentoring and coaching BSAs. In addition, this role will also be responsible for establishing governance standards and processes that meet and demonstrate compliance with RBC's Enterprise Initiative Management Policy (EIMP) & Standards (EIMS).

What will you do?

Business Systems Analysis:

Partner with Portfolio Management to understand business strategies and support resource planning activities.
  • Ensure the quality of the deliverables produced by the team.
  • Enabling and deepening knowledge of the Retail Investments business technology ecosystem
  • Drive maturation of Requirements framework and agile delivery capabilities (Behaviour Driven Development) and practices within the Retail Investments Technology team
  • Apply recruitment practices to facilitate BSA team staffing.
  • Build a shared understanding of the BSA's role in the organization.
  • Establish an effective peer coaching structure within the team to help grow more junior BSAs.
  • Ensure that BSAs are supported and coached when taking on assignments new project.
  • Manage performance through regular coaching discussions, while providing transparency on where the employees are at from a rating perspective.


Investments Technology Delivery Governance & Reporting:
  • Assist the Director of Delivery with the preparation of senior executive reporting materials and presentations.


What do you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • Proven experience working as a Senior Manager, BSA, in various delivery methodologies such as Agile and Iterative required with domain knowledge in banking / Retail Investment products, data warehousing, data models, and data integration.
  • Experience providing coaching and support to Business Analysts in the areas of requirements planning, analysis and documentation, requirements management, and support.
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements planning and prioritization including stakeholder analysis and effort estimation.
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements analysis and documentation
  • Advanced knowledge and proven experience in requirements communication- requirements walkthroughs; scope and change management; traceability; configuration management, Backlog Management
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control
  • Knowledge related to Portfolio cost management, assumptions, and risk-based planning, risk assessment, status reporting, general administration.
  • Knowledge of Portfolio plan development, scheduling, metrics, analysis, and status reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, Mural, Figma
  • Adept in using MS Office applications (Esp. SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel & Visio)
  • Strong working knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD)


Nice-to-have:
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Project Management Institute - Professional in Business Analysis (PMI - PBA) Certification
  • Master Certificate in Business Analysis
