This Opportunity

Provides advanced technical leadership and guidance for the planning, programming, design, and delivery of complex Science & Technology, Life Sciences, Higher Education, Healthcare Research, and advanced manufacturing facilities. Leads client engagements and multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project development, including facility assessment, master planning, laboratory programming, design, documentation, and construction implementation. Responsible for delivering innovative, functional, and sustainable facility solutions that support research, teaching, healthcare, and technology-driven environments while ensuring quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction. Draws upon extensive experience to provide technical leadership and strategic input on complex projects and planning initiatives.
Your Impact
  • Lead laboratory planning, programming, and architectural design efforts for complex life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, and higher education projects.
  • Serve as a key client contact for programming and planning activities, facilitating stakeholder workshops and developing project requirements.
  • Prepare and oversee development of programming documents, test fits, design studies, construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, laboratory planners, consultants, and specialty disciplines on large and complex projects.
  • Lead space planning, laboratory planning, facility assessments, and master planning studies that support long-term institutional and corporate growth objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight of project scope, schedules, budgets, quality control, and deliverable production.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior architects, planners, and design professionals while promoting technical excellence and quality standards.
  • Review design documents for compliance with applicable building codes, laboratory planning standards, accessibility requirements, institutional guidelines, and client objectives.
  • Support proposal development, project interviews, and client presentations for strategic project pursuits.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to identify innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, flexibility, and long-term value for clients.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or closely related discipline.
  • Registered Architect (RA) required. NCARB certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in architecture, laboratory planning, programming, and design of complex Science & Technology, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Higher Education facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating complex stakeholder groups.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory programming, research environments, facility planning, and space utilization strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of building systems integration, architectural design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Well-developed understanding of building codes, life safety requirements, accessibility standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of technical quality and client service.

Compensation
• Expected Salary (all locations): $134.00- 215,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
