Contribute to the overall success of the AML Data team by leading the execution and sustainment of AML data quality monitoring, Data Quality Issue Management (DQIM), remediation governance, and related data governance practices across the Global AML Data Domain. The role provides oversight of data quality controls, issue identification and assessment, root cause analysis, remediation, validation, closure, escalation, and management reporting, while ensuring activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  • Lead the operational execution and ongoing sustainment of AML data quality monitoring and DQIM practices across governed AML business processes, including Name Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Client Risk Rating, Regulatory Reporting, and other areas requiring monitoring and issue management.
  • Oversee the end-to-end data quality issue lifecycle, including issue identification, intake, impact and materiality assessment, prioritization, investigation, root cause analysis, remediation planning, compensating controls, validation, closure, and post-remediation monitoring.
  • Act as the AML Data Issue Champion and senior point of contact for complex or material data quality issues, ensuring ownership, decision-making, escalation, and evidence requirements are clear and appropriately documented.
  • Partner with AML Technology, source system owners, Data Custodians, Data Stewards, Business Process Owners, the Enterprise Data Office, Audit, and other stakeholders to investigate data defects and agree sustainable remediation approaches.
  • Challenge root cause analysis and remediation plans to ensure they address the underlying issue, define measurable outcomes, identify residual risk, and establish sustainable preventive or detective controls.
  • Lead and support AML Data business working groups, including agenda development, issue status reporting, decision capture, action tracking, stakeholder follow-up, and retention of governance evidence.
  • Monitor the AML portfolio of open data quality issues, including aged, overdue, deferred, high-severity, and stalled items, and provide clear management reporting on status, dependencies, emerging risks, and required decisions.
  • Prepare and maintain executive and governance reporting for AML leadership, Data Steward oversight, Data Office forums, and other applicable committees or working groups.
  • Ensure data quality issues, management self-identified issues, audit findings, technology intakes, and remediation activities are appropriately aligned, cross-referenced, and supported by complete evidence without unnecessary duplication.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, compliance reviews, and management assurance activities by coordinating evidence, explaining the control environment, validating issue records, and preparing audit-ready responses and closure materials.
  • Drive continuous improvement of AML DQIM procedures, control documentation, issue templates, dashboards, evidence repositories, working group practices, and stakeholder workflows.
  • Lead, coach, and develop AML Data Quality team members, establish priorities, review deliverables, and promote disciplined execution, collaboration, accountability, and sound risk judgment.
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of AML/ATF and sanctions requirements, regulatory reporting, enterprise data standards, technology strategies, data risk management, data quality practices, and issue management expectations.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen relationships with AML stakeholders and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Recommend expansion and maintenance of data quality monitoring coverage.
  • Support data profiling and analysis to quantify issue impact, identify affected records or processes, evaluate trends, and inform severity, materiality, prioritization, or remediation decisions.
  • Coordinate implementation and validation of automated data quality controls, dashboards, reconciliations, and monitoring solutions, including the definition of business requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support data lineage, metadata, source inventory, Data Sharing Agreement, and control inventory activities where required to investigate data quality issues or demonstrate traceability.
  • Provide input into data change management, project, enhancement, and incident processes to identify data impacts and ensure new or changed AML data solutions include appropriate quality controls and evidence.
  • Identify systemic themes and recurring control failures across the AML Data Domain and recommend portfolio-level remediation, process improvement, or governance action.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles, while ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
