Full Job Description
The Senior Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and functionality of facilities, utility systems, and building infrastructure that support patient care, research, and operational excellence.

Within , the Senior Maintenance Technician performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance activities across multiple building systems and craft disciplines. The Senior Maintenance Technician collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and customers to maintain a safe and efficient environment. The Senior Maintenance Technician also supports ongoing process improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts throughout UT MD Anderson.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of maintenance or construction experience, with working knowledge of HVAC systems. Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a plus. We are seeking a dependable, hands-on professional who can effectively support facility maintenance and operations.

Salary Range: $69,000 - $86,000 - $103,000

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9pm-5:30am

Responsibilities

Maintenance, Repair & Troubleshooting • Perform inspections, troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and preventive maintenance on equipment, buildings, and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills • Respond to HVAC service calls involving hot/cold complaints, odors, exhaust issues, and equipment repair or replacement • Perform plumbing repairs including unclogging water closets and sinks, shutting off fixture stops, operating sewer machines, and replacing faucets, valves, and fixtures • Maintain and repair plumbing systems including restrooms, house and lab air, vacuum, CO², domestic hot and cold water, and sanitary drain systems • Complete electrical maintenance tasks including cleaning or replacing light diffusers, replacing lamps and ballasts, and repairing switches and receptacles • Repair and maintain utility systems equipment including pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, water softeners, and heat exchangers • Assist with and perform preventive maintenance activities as assigned • Perform installations and repairs on doors, door closers, locks, hinges, framework, alignment systems, strike plates, and related hardware

Utility Systems, Compliance & Documentation • Interpret and work from instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams during utility system installations and repairs • Coordinate regulatory inspections conducted by external agencies • Inspect contracted work to verify repairs and installations meet compliance requirements • Investigate utility outages and support resolution activities • Conduct water quality analysis and record required operational data • Maintain records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent maintenance information • Pre pare and submit reports regarding maintenance activities and findings • Notify management of all recognized equipment repair needs • Provide complete documentation of corrective actions, labor hours, and materials used on work orders

Coordination, Customer Service & Vendor Relations • Coordinate and prioritize workflow assignments for other technicians • Function as a point of contact for vendors and external service providers • Order materials and assist with inventory management when required • Respond to customer calls and provide timely customer service • Communicate continuously with customers and clients regarding work status and service needs • Provide emergency response support for facility-related incidents, including code red alarms • Communicate issues encountered during work performance to supervisors in a timely manner

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and equipment • Ensure completed work meets professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety • Collaborate with team members from all craft shops to resolve problems and improve utility systems • Communicate with team members to identify opportunities for operational improvement • Participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance maintenance operations • Support training and precepting activities when assigned

Additional Duties • Manage assigned work orders and ensure completion according to established schedules • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree Technical or Trade school

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: Five years Experience in one or more crafts (i.e. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).
