Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Mainframe Developer with 15-22 years of experience to support and enhance mission-critical enterprise applications within the Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech domain. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and enterprise job scheduling tools such as Control-M. This role involves developing, maintaining, modernizing, and integrating legacy mainframe applications while ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze, screen, and assess existing mainframe applications to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, and modernization opportunities.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL-based applications.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize JCL for batch processing and scheduled jobs.
• Administer and support batch scheduling using Control-M, CCS, or similar enterprise scheduling tools.
• Develop and maintain applications utilizing DB2, VSAM, and CICS transaction processing.
• Perform code analysis, reverse engineering, refactoring, and enhancement of legacy applications.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application integration with distributed systems and APIs.
• Support application modernization and legacy transformation initiatives.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Prepare technical documentation, system specifications, and implementation documents.
• Support QA, UAT, deployment, and post-production activities.
• Ensure application security, performance, scalability, and operational stability.
Required Qualifications
• 15-22 years of hands-on Mainframe development experience.
• Strong experience in COBOL development.
• Strong experience with JCL (Job Control Language).
• Extensive experience with DB2, VSAM, and CICS transaction processing.
• Hands-on experience with Control-M, CCS, or similar enterprise job scheduling tools.
• Strong experience supporting batch processing and high-volume transaction systems.
• Experience performing code analysis, reverse engineering, and legacy application refactoring.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Banking, Financial Services , or FinTech environments.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with API integration, middleware, or web services.
• Exposure to mainframe modernization initiatives.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and cloud integration.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices for mainframe environments.
