Job Description:

Join Caterpillar's Resource Industries team as a Senior Machine Integration Engineer for the Battery Electric 793 Diesel Electric, now entering the pilot Build phase. This Tucson,AZ based role focuses on product design, validation, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and customer-facing teams. You'll drive requirements development, oversee early learner field follow, and coordinate across multiple product teams to deliver groundbreaking technology on Caterpillar's flagship battery electric mining truck.

What You Will Do:

Lead cross-functional engineering teams across design, manufacturing, safety, and product support.

Drive integration of conceptual designs, performance requirements, serviceability, and compliance.

Influence outcomes through deep technical expertise-without direct reports, but with significant impact across multiple teams.

Define project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

Coordinate resources across product development, testing, validation, value chain, and manufacturing.

Monitor project progress and costs; communicate status to stakeholders; resolve issues promptly.

Direct project staffing; motivate and develop project team members.

What Skills You Will Have:

Design Process Improvement Knowledge of DPI methods to evaluate engineering and validation workflows and drive improvements that enhance cross-functional efficiency at the machine-integration level. Ability to guide teams toward more effective processes by recognizing system bottlenecks and aligning stakeholders on needed changes.

Planning: Tactical & Strategic Ability to develop and adjust operational and tactical plans for complex machine programs, ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, and validation teams. Demonstrated capability to anticipate integration impacts and maintain schedule integrity in a senior technical leadership role.

Quality Management Understanding of Caterpillar quality processes and continuous improvement tools to ensure system-level performance, compliance, and serviceability. Ability to influence teams to uphold quality standards throughout design, integration, and Concept Build execution.

Analytical Thinking Strong analytical mindset with the capability to diagnose integration issues and drive resolution across multiple engineering domains.

Effective Communications Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing groups, ensuring alignment on integration status and decisions. Demonstrated skill in influencing outcomes through clear, concise, and audience-appropriate communication.

Problem Solving Knowledge of structured problem-solving techniques to identify integration or validation issues early and drive fact-based resolutions across multiple teams. Ability to balance stakeholder perspectives and system-level impacts when determining the best path forward.

Systems Thinking Understanding of full machine architecture and the interdependencies among subsystems to identify systemic issues and ensure integrated solutions meet performance, safety, and manufacturability goals. Ability to guide teams in resolving cross-system challenges that affect overall machine behavior.

Additional Information:

The primary work location for this role is Tucson, AZ, with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.

This position may require 15% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
