Licensing Specialist

Position Summary

The Licensing Specialist will play a crucial role in managing multistate financial services licensing projects and facilitating the licensing process for clients. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering exceptional client service and is relied upon for thorough, accurate, and timely information regarding consumer financial regulatory services to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts thorough research on financial services licensing requirements and regulations relevant to clients' industries, experience conducting research on lending and money transmission licensing requirements and regulations is preferred.
  • Collaborates with attorneys and clients to develop effective licensing and regulatory strategies
  • Provides strategic advice on optimizing licensing opportunities and mitigating potential risks
  • Prepares, reviews, and submits licensing applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinates with relevant authorities to streamline the application process and addresses any inquiries
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for clients regarding licensing matters
  • Informs clients of their licensing application status and provides timely updates
  • Develops and implements processes to track and manage renewals, amendments, and terminations
  • Maintains and files accurate and organized records, submissions, and correspondences for all licensing-related documents
  • Prepares regulatory reports for clients and internal teams as needed
  • Maintains relationships with attorneys, as well as state and federal regulators, and responds to regulatory requests in a timely manner
  • Assists with other department activities as needed and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education & Prior Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Law, Business, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience as a Licensing Specialist or similar role in a law firm or legal department
  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property laws and licensing regulations
  • Advanced degree or certification in Intellectual Property Law is a plus
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
