This role is embedded with Brand and works closely with Commercial teams where brand strategy meets the guest, including retail, ecommerce, wholesale, regional activations, guest programs, and other consumer-facing initiatives.

You will provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance that helps Arc'teryx move quickly, creatively, and responsibly. You will advise senior leaders and cross-functional partners on legal risk, commercial structure, brand integrity, advertising and marketing review, contracts, consumer-facing initiatives, and strategic projects. You will help the business make smart decisions early, reduce friction, and protect the premium trust that makes Arc'teryx different.

This is a role for the new type of in-house lawyer: entrepreneurial, pragmatic, commercially fluent, comfortable with ambiguity, and excited to operate inside a lean, high-performing, AI-enabled Legal team. You will help shape how Legal supports Brand and Commercial at scale. This role is based in Vancouver and is open to hybrid work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Senior Legal Counsel - Brand & Commercial role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Acting as a strategic legal partner to the Brand organization, advising on campaigns, creative concepts, athlete and ambassador relationships, sponsorships, collaborations, events, film tours, academies, social media, influencer programs, and other brand-building initiatives
  • Partnering with Commercial teams where Brand strategy is executed across regions, retail, ecommerce, wholesale, membership, guest-facing programs, and other consumer-facing channels
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including agency agreements, creative services agreements, production agreements, sponsorship and ambassador agreements, collaboration agreements, event agreements, licensing arrangements, vendor agreements, services agreements, and strategic partnership agreements
  • Providing practical legal guidance on advertising, marketing, promotions, sweepstakes, contests, consumer protection, talent usage, content rights, publicity rights, trademark usage, and brand integrity
  • Guiding Brand and Commercial leaders identify legal risks early and make business decisions with clear, risk-calibrated advice
  • Partnering with the IP Director, Brand Protection, Privacy, Technology, Amer Sports legal colleagues, and external counsel where matters involve trademarks, IP ownership, content usage, privacy, consumer data, regional law, or litigation risk
  • Leading regional and global commercial activations by helping teams navigate cross-border legal issues, local counsel input, approval requirements, and escalation paths
  • Developing and improving templates, playbooks, workflows, and self-service resources so Brand and Commercial teams can move faster on routine matters
  • Leveraging legal technology tools to improve contract review, research, drafting, playbook development, and legal operations
  • Managing external counsel effectively, including scoping legal advice, translating external guidance into practical business recommendations, and controlling cost where outside support is needed
  • Advancing Legal's broader mission to enable the business, protect the brand, and build scalable legal infrastructure as Arc'teryx grows

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Building the legal operating model for Brand support, including clear intake channels, escalation rules, templates, approval workflows, and practical guidance for repeat issues
  • Developing legal playbooks for marketing, athlete and ambassador relationships, collaborations, events, content usage, sweepstakes, promotions, and regional commercial activations
  • Helping Arc'teryx scale global Brand and Commercial initiatives while preserving brand integrity, consumer trust, and premium positioning
  • Supporting strategic brand partnerships, collaborations, new market initiatives, and consumer experience programs as Arc'teryx continues to grow globally
  • Partnering with the IP Director and Brand Protection team to create an integrated approach to brand value, content rights, trademark use, enforcement, and commercial opportunity
  • Building legal education and self-service resources for Brand, Commercial, Retail, Ecommerce, and regional teams
  • Helping Legal use AI, data, contract technology, and process design to reduce friction and increase the business impact of legal support
