Job Summary

The Senior Java Developer will join the Market Risk Fleet, a diverse agile team spanning Canada, India, Hungary, the UK, and the USA. The fleet develops Market Risk engines that calculate billions of daily P&Ls in a highly distributed environment, providing essential outputs for risk managers, board members, and regulators. This role focuses on reimplementing the Risk Calculation engine using distributed Java microservices and cloud technologies, supporting compliance with the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and enhance Market Risk applications and risk engines.
  2. Collaborate in Agile squads across global locations, applying Agile and DevOps practices.
  3. Design and implement distributed Java microservices and cloud-based solutions.
  4. Work with business partners to shape tooling and technology for risk management.
  5. Support FRTB applications including data ingestion, charge calculation, analysis, and reporting.
  6. Optimize performance for high-volume data processing and distributed computing.


Required Qualifications

  1. 5+ years of hands-on experience with Core Java (server-side), Spring, and RDBMS.
  2. Experience with distributed data processing pipelines using Apache Spark, Python, and related tools.
  3. Strong object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns expertise.
  4. Hands-on experience with multi-threaded applications and concurrency packages.
  5. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  6. Experience building and supporting applications with prompt, data context management, and foundational model testing.
  7. Proficiency in unit testing with JUnit.
  8. Strong relational database modeling and optimized querying skills.
  9. Ability to write scripts in Shell, Perl, or Python.
  10. Agile development experience.
  11. Excellent collaboration and communication skills for global team environments.
  12. Ability to work independently while following proper coding standards.
