Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Java AI Software Engineer / Tech Lead with strong experience in Java, Spring, cloud development, microservices, AI/ML, and large-scale software engineering. The role focuses on developing and modernizing highly available, high-volume applications while leveraging Generative AI tools to improve software development workflows. The ideal candidate will have experience with AI-assisted development, cloud deployment, system modernization, and leading engineers in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain large-scale software using Java, Spring Framework, cloud technologies, and web services supporting high-volume transactions.
• Leverage Generative AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code across implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Apply engineering judgment and validation to ensure the correctness, security, maintainability, and quality of AI-assisted development output.
• Use AI assistance for code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting, and other software development activities.
• Apply GenAI to reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across software development workflows.
• Apply agentic workflows, spec-driven development, custom instructions, and prompt engineering to establish effective AI-assisted development practices.
• Design, develop, deploy, and support AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Develop and support containerized microservices in cloud environments.
• Design and maintain CI/CD processes supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Support cloud deployments using Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.
• Develop and maintain applications using databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and PostgreSQL.
• Support IT transformation and system modernization initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to distributed architectures.
• Work with Large Language Models such as GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, or PaLM.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and adjacent teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively and provide technical leadership to other engineers.
• Develop architectural and design documentation, functional and technical specifications, and automated test processes.
• Research and document production and test environments, architecture, and design.
• Support Agile development practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale software using Java, Spring Framework, cloud development, and web services supporting high-volume transactions in highly available environments.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML implementation and production deployment.
• 6+ years of experience working with containers and microservices in cloud environments.
• 6+ years of experience with cloud deployment using continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) models.
• 2+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.
• 2+ years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of experience with IT transformation and system modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy platforms to distributed platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models such as GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, or PaLM.
• Practical experience with Generative AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, custom instructions, and prompt engineering.
• Understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with and lead other engineers.
• Collaborative mindset with a strong focus on execution and delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry.
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), QA automation, and quality-focused engineering practices.
• Proficiency in developing architectural diagrams, design documentation, functional and technical specifications, and automated test processes.
• Willingness to learn across the technology stack and document technical solutions.
• Ability to research and document production and test environments, architecture, and design.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working in an Agile environment.
• Experience with the Atlassian toolset, including JIRA and Confluence.
