Support project work in the deployment, installation, operations and maintenance of traffic management systems and electronic solid state traffic signals and associated equipment. Support execution of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) tasks and projects by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work according to deadlines and budget constraints. Maintain assigned equipment.
DUTIES- Support a variety of project activities across the intelligent transportation systems life cycle.
- Identifying and assessing ITS technologies and supporting ITS system design and development of system integration plans.
- Support field design surveys and various installation activities including traffic signal controllers, cabinets, network devices, and other equipment associated with traffic management systems.
- Work with local ITS devices, especially signal control equipment, including data conversion, installation, test, integration, etc.
- Must have component level knowledge of traffic signal controllers and cabinets and troubleshoot the same both on the street and bench level.
- Assist lead technician in, planning, installation, upgrade, and maintenance of ITS systems and devices in accordance with the project scope.
- Perform all operator level maintenance and checks on assigned and operated vehicles and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS- 7+ years of experience in the installation and construction of ITS systems including traffic signals, video, detection, and communications including wireless, fiber optic technologies, and twisted pair.
- Experience operating sophisticated electronic test equipment.
- Experience in ITS including traffic engineering knowledge and practice, traffic signal operations experience, network, and systems.
- IMSA Traffic Signal Level 3 Field Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
- Advance principles and practices in the use of computerized system for traffic movement.
- Computer software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications such as MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local.
- Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings.
- Communication skills both written and verbal including the ability to effectively communicate project progress to management.
- Resolve problems affecting projects.
- Strong personal skills and the ability to work with customers.
- Possess Class B CDL or be able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
BUSINESS TRAVEL: As needed to project locations and company facilities across the US.
