Arup is seeking a Senior ITS Engineer to join our Intelligent Mobility Systems team. In this role, you will help deliver safe, sustainable, and innovative transportation solutions that improve mobility, transit reliability, and accessibility across Canada.
The ideal candidate will have experience in ITS planning, design, systems engineering, integration, testing, and operations. Exposure to ITS infrastructure, communications systems, connected and autonomous vehicles, transit technology, traffic signal systems, and transportation analytics is highly desirable.
Working closely with municipalities and transit agencies, you will lead and support the delivery of intelligent mobility projects, provide technical guidance, contribute to business growth, and participate in industry thought leadership initiatives.

The opportunity
• Lead the development of ITS strategy, planning, and design of urban streets and highway networks
• Manage large tasks or small projects, which may include cross-discipline team management, client relationship management, project finance monitoring and reporting, and project deliverables
• Support the pursuit of project opportunities and the development of business strategies
• Mentor staff and share knowledge, providing strong technical guidance and oversight
• Perform analyses and generate reports using tools and dashboards including Excel, traffic modeling platforms, PowerBI, or other analytical tools
• Lead the development 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% design plans
• Develop new equipment specifications
• Develop construction cost estimates for ITS infrastructure
• Create well-organized presentation material and write reports for internal and external purposes
• Attend client meetings with senior staff
• Present technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
• Research and understanding trends and standard methodologies in ITS/Intelligent Mobility
Is this role right for you?
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada (or eligible)
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience working in the ITS or intelligent mobility realm as an engineer with progressive responsibilities
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, communications, civil, transportation or related)
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
• Excellent planning and organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and work autonomously
• Experience with North American traffic planning and engineering practices
• Experience with one or more of the following: Synchro, Vissim, Aimsun, AutoCAD, Microstation

Vancouver Hiring Range - The good faith base salary range for this job if performed in Vancouver is $135,000 to $145,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Vancouver will differ.
