The role:Saltworks Technologies has an immediate opening for a
Senior IT Systems Specialist. You will own our technology infrastructure, from on-premises servers and cloud platforms to enterprise applications, security, and AI tooling. We are looking for someone hands-on who can work independently, lead technical initiatives, and keep our systems secure, stable, and scalable as we grow.
This is an onsite role at our office in Richmond, BC, with limited opportunity for remote work. You must be located in or be willing to relocate to the Lower Mainland.
Your primary areas of responsibility are:System Administration:- Configure, deploy, and maintain host servers, VMs, storage, clusters, containers, and networking.
- Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, certificates, OU management, and access.
- Manage Microsoft 365 services and applications, Entra, SharePoint, Graph, GSA, enterprise apps, and permissions.
- Manage MDM/RMM platforms, including Intune and NinjaOne, and automate tasks using PowerShell and Bash.
- Administer cloud platforms: Azure (Databricks, resource groups, permissions) and AWS (IAM, EC2, S3, firewall, access).
Application and Asset Management:- Administer enterprise software, including SQL/PostgreSQL, SYSPRO, EPLAN, ARAS PLM, GitLab, and other business-critical systems.
- Manage the software and hardware asset lifecycle across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Maintain backups for VMs, configurations, and code, both on-premises and in the cloud.
Network Security:- Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and site-to-site connections.
- Deploy and configure SIEM and internal security tools.
- Review logs and security events using Microsoft Defender and related tools.
- Conduct regular system audits to identify vulnerabilities and reduce risk.
- Implement security protocols that keep the network stable and protect data integrity.
- Manage IT risk, incident response, and remediation.
Technical Support and Project Management:- Provide technical support for IT infrastructure, projects, and end users.
- Resolve technical issues promptly and in line with company policies.
- Work with the IT Manager and project stakeholders to plan and carry out system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments.
You will be a great fit if you have:- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Information Technology or a related field.
- 6+ years of on-premises and cloud system and network administration, including Hyper-V, clusters, storage, Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra, Intune, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, ZTNA, Linux, and hybrid environments.
- Hands-on experience with Azure (Databricks, resource groups) and AWS (IAM, EC2, S3, firewall).
- Proven ability to deploy and manage networks, VMs, firewalls, access control, RMM systems (NinjaOne, Intune), application provisioning, backups, and user administration in hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with administering enterprise software, such as ERP and PLM systems.
- Working knowledge of AI tools, integrations, and supporting infrastructure.
- Proficiency automating administrative tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience supporting IT systems for 100+ users in a corporate environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and prevent system issues before they occur.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deliver complex technical initiatives independently and as part of a team.
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:- Hands-on coding and DevOps experience with Git and Docker.
- Database administration experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.
- Experience administering AI tools, including connectors and user management.
- Familiarity with IT system lifecycle management and business continuity planning.

Salary: $110,000 to $140,000 per year (negotiable based on your experience, qualifications, and internal equity).
