Fortinet is recruiting a Senior IT Specialist to join our FortiStack team based out of Burnaby, BC. This team is responsible for the management, operation and continued development of our Openstack-based private cloud platform. This position would represent a great fit for IT professionals with heavy experience in Linux Administration, Datacenter Virtualization, and supporting large-scale Production environments.

As a Senior IT Specialist, you will:
  • Deploy and operate an OpenStack-based private cloud, including implementing measures to secure and protect data.
  • Administer Linux servers (Ubuntu/Red Hat/CentOS).
  • Monitor key performance metrics for servers, VMs, applications, and networks.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects discovered during testing.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute tools and scripts to enable automation and self-service solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by seeking opportunities for automation, optimization, and efficiency within the cloud environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, both independently and collaboratively as part of the broader team.
  • Provide technical leadership by sharing knowledge and best practices across teams and peers.
  • Participate in on-call support as required.

We Are Looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in production platform operation
  • A degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related field.
  • Intermediate-Level Experience in Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Knowledge in server virtualization (KVM / VMware)
  • Knowledge in network administration and industry standard protocols
  • Knowledge in network, server and system monitoring (Zabbix, SNMP, Syslog.)
  • Knowledge of deployment automation (Ansible)
  • Knowledge in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Excellent ability to organize, multitask, work individually and in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good to Have:
  • Knowledge in Openstack administration
  • Certification in RHCSA or RHCE
  • Certification in Openstack
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible, etc.)


The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $84,000 - $110,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
