These tools and infrastructure power insights across our suite of iOS applications, including News, Games, Cooking, and The Athletic.

You will operate as a technical leader within the iOS and Data ecosystem. You will shape the design, implementation, and maintenance of event collection, experimentation, analytics instrumentation, and mobile data contracts at scale. • Write clean, maintainable code using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Participate in code reviews and write unit tests; collaborate with QA to enable robust automated functional tests
  • Contribute to app architectural decisions, documentation, technical roadmap and timeline estimations
  • Integrate with internal NY Times services and external third-party APIs
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience building native iOS applications in Swift
  • Expertise in Swift, Swift Concurrency, and modern iOS architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, unidirectional data flow)
  • Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining shared libraries or SDK-style code consumed by multiple teams or applications
  • Experience working with analytics systems, event-driven architectures, or experimentation frameworks
  • Experience independently owning large technical initiatives from design through rollout

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building mobile platform tooling or internal SDKs
  • Familiarity with experimentation systems, feature flags, and A/B testing infrastructure
  • Experience optimizing startup time, memory footprint, and runtime performance
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy considerations, and compliance requirements in mobile apps
  • Experience working in high-traffic consumer applications at scale
