Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Interior Designer, Government Market to join our Architecture & Urbanism practice. In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of innovative, sustainable, and people-centered interior environments across a variety of asset types including workplace, training and operations centers, secure buildings, and civic developments.

Working closely with clients, architects, engineers, planners, and other design professionals, you will be responsible for developing creative design solutions from concept through construction while ensuring high-quality project outcomes that align with client objectives and Arcadis' commitment to improving quality of life.

Role accountabilities:
  • Lead interior design projects through all phases of planning, design, documentation, and construction administration.
  • Develop innovative interior concepts, space planning studies, workplace strategies, and user-centered design solutions.
  • Prepare design presentations, mood boards, material palettes, furniture selections, and client deliverables.
  • Produce and review detailed design drawings, specifications, construction documents, and FF&E schedules.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, landscape architects, and project managers.
  • Manage client relationships and participate in workshops, presentations, stakeholder consultations, and design reviews.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate designers.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, design quality, and resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility requirements, life-safety standards, and sustainability objectives.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers throughout project delivery.
  • Support business development activities through proposal preparation, presentations, and client engagement.
  • Contribute to design excellence initiatives, innovation, and best practice development within the studio.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Must be US citizen.
  • Professional registration or eligibility with a recognised interior design association (NCIDQ, ARIDO, IDC, CIDA, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive interior design experience within architecture, engineering, or design consulting environments.
  • Proven experience leading complex interior projects from concept design through construction.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, workplace, and civic environments.
  • Experience with FF&E specification, space planning, technical detailing, and contract documentation.
  • Working knowledge of UFCs, building codes, accessibility legislation, and sustainable design principles.
  • Strong client-facing, presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
