The Opportunity

Our Technical Solution Design (TSD) team, part of our Core Diagnostics division, is hiring a Senior Instrumentation and Analytical Specialist. This role will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas of Abbott instrumentation, automation, and workflow solutions to optimize configurations of automated diagnostics systems, laboratory automation systems, and system integrations. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth data analysis of customer information using analytic software to determine areas of impact.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Utilize advanced technical knowledge to perform Abbott solution assessments to further optimize product configurations, instrumentation, automation and informatics.
  •  Build and maintain key legacy account relationships through the performance of solution optimization engagements that drive retention of current business.
  • Conduct design and optimization workshops relating to the area of expertise assigned.
  • Investigate, report and present their findings to customers and internal teams.
  • Aid sales team in positioning value expansion opportunities and renewing current customer contracts.
  • Responsible for coordinating on-site assessments and creating and delivering executive
  • Owns the development and execution of training programs and tools for the Technical Solution Design team.
  • Responsible for driving the technical differentiating sales positioning and strategy from competitor products.
  • Utilize, develop, and implement automation, informatics and/or professional services strategies for the most complex and largest customer base such as key strategic customers and national/regional health systems.
  • Serve as technical expert and communication link between US customers, company US sales and service teams, and international counterparts, as needed. Initiate and implement competitive comparisons to support business strategy as appropriate.
  • Partner with Abbott US marketing to develop and disseminate new product knowledge to technical sales teams.
  • Ensure new product development meets customer and industry standards for effectiveness and innovation.
  • Assess and modify instrumentation, informatics, laboratory middleware and automation software that are not functioning in an optimal manner.
  • Ensure that customer specimen routing on automation systems is balanced between instruments and modules.
  • Provide high level instrument and automation training to both internal and external customers.
  • Review and modify customer instrument reagent plans.
  • Responsible for extensive customer data analytics by conducting analyses utilizing data mining software specific to instrumentation and automation platforms.
  • Act as primary commercial contact for technical sales teams for product, process development and improvement initiatives by leveraging advanced knowledge and experience selling, implementing and optimizing Abbott solutions.
  • Build and maintain effective long-term relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Manage and support sales objectives and customer satisfaction to grow the business.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Analyze customer data and workflow processes to identify areas affecting the optimal operation of Abbott installed laboratory hardware and software solutions inhibiting lean six sigma efficiency. Through advanced troubleshooting, optimization leads resolve issues to maximize the positive impact of Abbott products on patient care and customer satisfaction driving Abbott brand loyalty.
  • Through gathered data and experience, suggests changes to processes and procedures that will enhance the delivery, installation and implementation of Abbott products.
  • Works with Abbott Automation customers to optimize and enhance the installed solution along with providing technical insight on lessons leaner in the optimization activities to enhance the renewal of contracts.
  • Provide customer presentations, training and demonstrations of on-site products as well as recommend value expansion opportunities.
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching Technical Solution Design Specialists on the various technical areas of automation, workflow, information technology, and professional services.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree a plus
  • 10+ years in any combination of one or more of the following areas:
    •  Selling technical products, services, installations, and configurations of automated diagnostics systems, laboratory automation systems, and system integrations
    • Clinical laboratory science and laboratory operations and workflows
    • Modifying informatics, laboratory middleware, and automation software
    • Conducting data analyses and utilizing data mining software specific to instrumentation and automation platforms
  • This is a US Remote field-based position. Candidates must be based in a US Metro with an available airport. Up to 75% travel.

The base pay for this position is

$99,300.00 – $198,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
