Description:Infrastructure PlanningInfrastructure Planning plays an important role in the planning, design and implementation of physical space for departments, centres and institutes within the Faculty. We provide leadership and assistance on a broad range of infrastructure and planning projects and liaise with a variety of university groups that have a role in planning and construction. Infrastructure Planning ensures coordination between the various groups and success of overall project objectives.
This position reports to the Director, Infrastructure Planning in the Faculty of Arts and Science. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of capital project planning, high-level, strategic planning, and infrastructure planning for various Faculty projects. The incumbent plays a key role in the implementation of capital projects, conducts research related to physical and infrastructure planning for Faculty facilities, liaises with internal and external consultants and partners. In addition, will provide technical expertise and guidance to other staff within the unit on building mechanical systems and specialized lab requirements. As a senior member of the Office of Infrastructure Planning team and in conjunction with the Director will participate in setting the annual priorities for space planning to support the Division.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: EDUCATION:- University degree in Mechanical Engineering with Professional Engineering designation to practice in Ontario is a requirement; registered and in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng).
- Certification in energy analyses, energy measurement and verifications, commissioning is an asset.
EXPERIENCE:- Minimum eight (8) years of applicable experience in Project Management, Mechanical or Electrical consulting in the design and construction industry and/or Facilities Management; Experience in project planning and management in the post-secondary education sector preferred.
- Must have experience in providing complex services in an academic or equivalent diverse environment, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse community, facilities and utilities experience preferred.
- In depth knowledge and understanding Design Standards, Sustainability Standards etc.
SKILLS:- Expertise with a variety of project management and process improvement methodologies. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Very strong interpersonal and analytical skills; good organizational ability; initiative; judgment and tact.
- Good numerical skills required.
- Ability to use CAD software for plans and spreadsheets/analytical software proficiently.
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem- solving capabilities.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
OTHER:- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a consultative team environment working independently and with various internal and external stakeholders and partners with initiative.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and analytical skills;
- Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and to respond to frequently changing priorities.
- High level of accuracy required while working under pressure.
