Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer - CMDB Discovery to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise asset discovery and CMDB solutions. This role focuses on enhancing ServiceNow Discovery capabilities, improving CMDB data quality, expanding cloud asset visibility, and developing enterprise integrations across cloud and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering experience with ServiceNow Discovery, cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, and automation while providing technical leadership for enterprise discovery initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery solutions to identify, collect, and maintain accurate infrastructure, application, cloud, and AI asset data within the CMDB.
• Enhance CMDB data quality by integrating multiple enterprise data sources and maintaining accurate asset relationships, dependencies, and configuration information.
• Develop and maintain discovery solutions for AWS, Azure, and GCP environments to improve visibility into cloud infrastructure, services, and applications.
• Design, build, and support integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise infrastructure management, asset management, endpoint management, and cloud platforms.
• Support AI governance initiatives by discovering, tracking, and managing AI-related assets within the enterprise CMDB.
• Improve asset inventory accuracy to support vulnerability management, security operations, risk reduction, and remediation initiatives.
• Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB, and integration issues.
• Mentor engineering team members and promote technical best practices across infrastructure and CMDB initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement new discovery methods, automation opportunities, and custom solutions to improve operational efficiency and data quality.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams to support enterprise service management objectives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong experience implementing and supporting ServiceNow Discovery and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) solutions.
• Proven experience designing engineering solutions and enterprise integrations rather than performing administrative support only.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience discovering, inventorying, and managing infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Strong understanding of CMDB architecture, service mapping, configuration management, and automated asset discovery.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cloud networking, and cloud-native services.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewall technologies, and related infrastructure protocols.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration.
• Experience designing and supporting integrations between enterprise platforms and infrastructure management tools.
• Understanding of vulnerability management processes and the role of CMDB data in security operations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with endpoint and asset management platforms such as JAMF, Microsoft SCCM/MECM, or similar technologies.
• Experience with application development, scripting, automation, or custom ServiceNow application development.
• Knowledge of AI asset governance, AI infrastructure, or emerging technology discovery capabilities.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale IT Service Management (ITSM) environments.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud environments.
Certifications
• ServiceNow Certification (Preferred).
• ITIL Certification (Preferred).
• AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Certification (Preferred).
