About the RoleWe are looking for a talented Senior Industrial Engineer who combines systems thinking with technical depth to industrialize our reactor manufacturing lines - enabling fast, efficient deployment at scale through simulation and value-stream analysis. You will validate design choices for new factories and optimize the use of existing facilities and assets, using simulation tools to quantitatively assess performance and layouts and to drive data-driven decisions that reduce cost and optimize throughput.
This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for a data-driven innovator who thrives at the intersection of manufacturing execution, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership. You will be the analytical asset behind our ability to scale reactor production with precision, agility, and foresight - turning complex manufacturing data into clear, actionable strategies.
Key Responsibilities - Industrialize our reactor manufacturing lines, enabling fast and efficient deployment at scale by performing value-stream analysis using simulations
- Develop and deploy discrete-event simulation models that integrate component flow, material flow, tooling operations, and people
- Develop and validate design choices for new factories
- Support and validate decision-making on process and material flow layout with data
- Deep dive into production assumptions (yield, line speed, equipment availability, cycle time) to identify risks, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities, transforming raw data into strategic recommendations
- Work with internal teams designing production lines to ensure their layouts align with the overall plan and vision for the factory and will perform to the required level
- Analyze and optimize existing factory and asset running conditions
- Propose and quantify the benefits of layout changes for operating or future conceptual factories
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders - production technicians, Structural/MEP/Fire Engineers, Architects, and Construction Managers - to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Apply industrial engineering principles (Lean, Six Sigma, process optimization) and ensure compliance with applicable building codes and nuclear quality/traceability requirements (e.g., NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B)
Basic Qualifications - Degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with discrete-event simulation software such as FlexSim, AnyLogic, Arena, or Simio
- Experience doing the detailed analysis necessary to make data-driven decisions on process layout design, production line design, or warehouse design
- Exceptional analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize large, complex datasets into clear insights and persuasive recommendations for leadership
- Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results with tight deadlines and minimal handholding
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in nuclear, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated, high-reliability industries
- Skills in SQL, Python, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience with CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit)
- Familiarity with nuclear quality and traceability standards (NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B)
- Experience with industry methodologies: A3, 8D, Lean/Six Sigma, and change management
- Demonstrated ability to gain buy-in from a diverse group of stakeholders
- Meticulous, organized, and disciplined in documentation, tracking, and process ownership
Physical Requirements & Work Environment - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various positions for welding access.
- Use of welding PPE (hood, FR clothing, gloves) and other PPE as required.
- Factory/shop floor environment with exposure to noise, fumes, heat, UV/arc flash, and moving equipment.
RequirementsMust be based in the United States
Must be willing to work on-site at our headquarters in Austin, Texas
