Partner with the bestIn this role, you'll collaborate with Development and SRE teams in building and managing mission-critical critical lab infrastructure services and environments. You'll contribute directly to scaling our infrastructure and management tools driving development and testing improvements felt throughout our entire organization.
As a Senior II Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Enhancing an application responsible for managing reservations of physical hardware used by teams for testing their Akamai Cloud projects.
- Developing a software backend that automates the creation of testing environments to support dozens of services and engineering teams.
- Contributing to the team mission of developing virtual machine based development environments that perform and scale to meet our engineers demands.
- Identifying bottlenecks with development and deployment strategies, proposing solutions that improve reliability and performance.
- Providing technical leadership to other members of the team in the form of proposing improvements to coding and design patterns.
- Building reporting tools for tracking capacity utilization for virtual machines and physical hardware.
- Collaborating with a global team on solutions that increase the speed and confidence in which they ship products.
Do what you loveTo be successful in this role you will:
- Have 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
- Possess experience using Python to construct
robust backend services, APIs, scalable platform automation, and intuitive command-line interfaces. - Showcase a proven track record in developing resilient test automation frameworks for
cloud infrastructure solutions. - Demonstrate in-depth expertise in microservices, cloud networking architectures, and
relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres - Utilize proficiency in container orchestration technologies, including Docker and
Kubernetes - Leverage hands-on experience with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Grafana to advance system automation and observability.
- Draw upon prior experience in guiding, mentoring, or leading junior engineering staff.
CompensationAkamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from 120,400 - 216,600 CAD/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
