Senior Hydrogeologist



Looking to make an impact across large-scale energy and environmental projects? S&ME is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina team supporting clients in power, nuclear, mining, and water resources.

As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will lead complex hydrogeologic investigations and support high-impact projects across our Energy Markets, including power generation, nuclear, mining, waste management, and water resources. In this role, you will serve as a technical expert, guiding projects from planning through execution while delivering high-quality solutions for groundwater, surface water, and environmental challenges. You will play a key leadership role, managing client relationships, driving proposals, overseeing field and technical work, and mentoring junior staff, while contributing to the continued growth of our services and reputation in the industry.

Your Day-to-Day:
  • Project Leadership & Execution: Manage large, complex hydrogeologic projects from start to finish, including scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and overseeing field investigations and technical deliverables.
  • Technical Expertise & Analysis: Lead site characterizations and hydrogeologic studies, providing advanced analysis and solutions related to groundwater, surface water, leachate, and gas systems.
  • Client & Proposal Management: Develop proposals, often large or complex in scope, maintain strong client relationships, and serve as trusted advisors across sectors such as energy, mining, and municipal services.
  • Reporting & Regulatory Support: Prepare and review detailed technical reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation to support environmental regulations and project approvals.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior staff, oversee their technical work, and contribute to team development while supporting business growth and industry engagement.


What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's (or higher, a plus) degree in Geology
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Geologist (PG) in South Carolina
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, and able to learn commercial software applications
