Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Human Resources Manager to join our team in a fast-paced, operationally driven waste and recycling environment. This is a hands-on, working leadership role where you will be deeply embedded in the business, providing boots-on-the-ground HR support and building strong partnerships with operational leaders.

Success in this role requires the ability to prioritize effectively, stay highly organized, and adapt quickly in a constantly evolving environment. You will play a key role in shaping workplace culture, managing employee relations, and supporting business performance through practical, people-focused solutions

Position Description
  • Act as a trusted business partner to operations and leadership teams, providing strategic and day-to-day HR guidance with a "boots on the ground" approach.
  • Deliver hands-on HR support across multiple sites, maintaining a strong physical presence in the field
  • Lead and manage unionized workforce relations, including the administration and resolution of grievances.
  • Support and advise on collective agreement interpretation and compliance
  • Participate in or support collective bargaining activities (where applicable)
  • Drive effective employee relations practices, including investigations, discipline, and conflict resolution
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, talent development, and performance management
  • Leverage HR technology and automation tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance employee experience
  • Identify opportunities to optimize and modernize HR practices through digital solutions and data insights
  • Ensure HR policies, processes, and programs are executed consistently and effectively
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability

Skills & Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a management level or equivalent role.
  • Proven experience in a senior HR generalist or management role within a fast-paced, operational environment (industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or similar preferred)
  • Strong experience supporting a unionized workforce, including grievance management and arbitrations.
  • Exposure to or participation in collective bargaining is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and stay highly organized under pressure.
  • A hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to be actively involved in day-to-day operations.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong proficiency with HRIS systems, data analytics, and HR technology platforms, with experience leveraging automation to improve workflows and reporting.
  • Comfort adopting and championing digital tools, AI-enabled solutions, or process automation initiatives within HR.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Strong experience working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with competing priorities.

Salary - $120,000
