Make an impact in Atlantic Canada

Are you a strategic HR leader who thrives on building strong relationships and driving positive change? At CBC/Radio-Canada, we don’t just report the news - we connect Canadians. We are looking for a dedicated Senior HR Business Partner to join our team and become the go-to HR/IR expert for our CBC News leadership in Atlantic Canada.

This isn’t your average desk job. You’ll be working directly with the teams that inform communities across Newfoundland & Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our operations reflect the values and unique needs of these regions.

You will be the vital link between our people and our business strategy. By fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and high engagement, you’ll help our CBC News leadership teams navigate complex people and industrial relations challenges. Your success here directly impacts our ability to tell the stories that matter to Canadians.

  • Lead with Strategy: Establish a strategic consultative approach that aligns HR best practices and industrial relations challenges with the reality of the digital world, spearheading initiatives tailored to the specific needs of CBC News.

  • Advise and Resolve: Serve as the first point of contact for leaders, providing creative advice on complex HR/IR issues and using sound judgment to make recommendations that resolve critical operational challenges.

  • Support the Workforce: Guide leaders through performance management, organizational development, change management, and workforce planning across various Atlantic Canada locations.

  • Cultivate Partnerships: Foster productive union-management relations and establish strategic priorities in a fast-paced environment to maintain effective working relationships.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: You have 5+ years of progressive HR experience under your belt (unionized work environment preferred).

  • Education & Credentials: A bachelor’s degree in HR or Industrial Relations (CHRP/CHRL designation is a major plus!).

  • The Skillset: You’re a problem-solver who can handle complex industrial relations in a unionized environment with diplomacy, discretion, and strategic judgment.

  • Personal Attributes: You have the ability to take initiative and work independently.

  • Communication: You’re an influencer who builds rapport easily and can navigate complex organizational structures with confidence.

  • Location: St. John’s, Charlottetown, Fredericton, or Halifax

  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: Work schedule to be discussed with the Hiring Manager according to the People & Culture guidelines.

  • Languages: Bilingualism (English/French) is a fantastic asset we’d love to have.

Why Join Us?

We believe your rewards should reflect your vital contributions. Beyond a meaningful career, we are committed to your long-term security and well-being.

  • A Rare Advantage: Join one of the few organizations still offering a Defined Benefit pension plan, providing you with a clear, secure, and guaranteed income for life.

  • Comprehensive Well-being: Enjoy robust health, dental, and financial protection programs that adapt to your evolving needs.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
