Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to join our Millsdale team in Elwood, IL. In this role, you will report to the Sr. HR Manager, NA Operations. The Senior HR Business Partner will help establish a positive and engaging workplace culture by effectively facilitating and resolving employee relations matters. This role collaborates with site leaders to execute objectives consistent with business and HR strategy, policies, practices, and collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers the collective bargaining agreement to include daily contract administration, grievance responses, and arbitration preparation.
  • Recruits for hourly job opportunities.
  • Overseas the onboarding of new employees.
  • Administers corporate and site policies.
  • Collaborates with client groups to manage employee job performance by coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Acts as advocate and advisor to employees and leaders regarding career and leadership development initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers presentations to leaders and employees regarding HR policies and practices.
  • Contributes team effort by proactively participating in and helping accomplish team objectives.
  • Assist in meeting business performance goals through supporting an aligned HR and Employee Relations strategy.
  • May partner with Legal counsel to prepare for and when necessary, attend mediations, arbitration, and other court proceedings.
  • Help drive an environment of engagement, shared success and continuous improvement.
  • Operates within the boundaries of the Textron/Bell Business Conduct Guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in unionized environments preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable state and federal labor and employment laws.
  • High level of trust and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Proven ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential data.
  • High customer focus with strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and drive appropriate solutions
  • Ability to anticipate issues/needs and to work proactively to address them.
  • Strong ability to balance competing priorities and be flexible and creative in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Developed analytical skills and ability to mine business intelligence, assess data, and draw conclusions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or other related field from an accredited college.


Pay Range: $84,000 - $116,000

The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
