POSITION: Senior HIL EngineerLOCATION: Santa Clara, CARECRUITMENT RANGE: $140,000-$165,000Reporting to the AAD V&V XIL Development Technical Lead, the Senior XIL Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced X-in-the-Loop (XIL) test environments that support the validation of Assisted & Automated Driving (AAD) features. The role delivers real-time simulation solutions, hardware, and software platforms that enable virtual testing and verification while ensuring compliance with industry standards and supporting continuous improvement across AAD testing capabilities.
What you will be doing:- Designing and developing XIL (MIL, SIL, HIL) test environments and real-time simulation models to support AAD feature validation.
- Implementing and delivering scalable virtual validation solutions aligned with architectural requirements, industry standards, and business objectives.
- Collaborating with Test Platform, System Test, Modelling & Simulation, and XIL Execution teams to ensure effective integration and deployment of test environments.
- Providing technical leadership, guidance, and advanced troubleshooting support for complex XIL test environment issues.
- Managing supplier, facility, and stakeholder interactions to ensure test environments are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test efficiency, simulation capability, and product quality.
- Sharing technical updates, best practices, and innovations across the wider AAD Validation & Verification community.
What you will need:- Degree qualification in Electronics, Software, Automotive, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience developing XIL test environments (MIL, SIL, HIL, or VIL) within the automotive, aerospace, or related technology sectors.
- Strong expertise in model-based development using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and real-time simulation tools.
- Experience working with HIL platforms, vehicle networks, diagnostics protocols, AUTOSAR frameworks, and virtual vehicle simulation environments.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, systems engineering principles, and industry standards such as ISO 26262 and ASAM OpenX.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, lead technical activities, and support the development and mentoring of other engineers.
Schedule: Hybrid Ways of Working (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - office days; Wednesday and Friday - choice days)
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors.
