Senior Glazing Estimator Location: Greater Vancouver / Langley, BC Industry: Commercial Glazing / Architectural Glass & Metal Our client is an established architectural glazing contractor based in the Greater Vancouver area, specializing in commercial, retail, office and high-end architectural glazing projects across North America. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Senior Glazing Estimator to their team. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial glazing and architectural glass projects from initial tender through contract award. This position will work closely with general contractors, architects, suppliers, project managers, drafting and fabrication teams to develop detailed pricing and ensure bids are both commercially competitive and technically sound. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for commercial glazing projects Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda and bid documents Develop accurate material, labour, equipment and subcontractor pricing Take off quantities for curtain wall, storefront, entrances, windows, glass and architectural metal systems Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations Identify project scope, exclusions, clarifications and potential risks Prepare detailed proposals and submit competitive bids within deadlines Review plans and specifications to identify discrepancies, omissions and potential change-order opportunities Liaise with general contractors, architects, suppliers and clients throughout the estimating process Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in project turnover meetings Work closely with Project Management and Operations to ensure accurate handover of awarded projects Assist with value engineering and alternative system/product pricing where appropriate Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases Monitor market conditions, material costs and labour requirements Assist with developing budgets and preliminary estimates for projects at the early design stage Support the business development team with pricing and proposals when required Requirements: 5+ years of estimating experience within commercial glazing, architectural glass, curtain wall, storefront or a related building-envelope environment Strong understanding of commercial glazing systems and installation methods Experience estimating curtain wall, storefront, entrances, windows and architectural glass Strong ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and construction documents Proven experience preparing competitive bids for commercial construction projects Strong knowledge of material costs, labour requirements and installation processes Experience with glazing takeoff and estimating software Strong mathematical, analytical and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with GCs, suppliers, clients and internal teams Experience with larger or technically complex commercial projects is highly desirable Preferred Experience: Candidates with backgrounds in commercial glazing, curtain wall, architectural glass, façade, storefront or building-envelope contracting are encouraged to apply. Experience estimating projects from drawings through final proposal, as well as understanding fabrication and installation requirements, would be particularly valuable.
