Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer 4 to work with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Seattle, WA office.

In this role, you will provide expert-level technical and strategic consulting for complex geotechnical projects, primarily supporting public- and private-sector clients throughout Washington. You will serve as a senior technical authority and reviewer, lead multidisciplinary project teams, mentor staff, and communicate how technical conclusions support broader project and client objectives. You will also support proposal development, client relationships, and business-development activities while helping strengthen the Seattle office's technical capabilities and expand geotechnical opportunities in Washington. An active Professional Engineer license in Washington is required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Lead major consulting assignments associated with your area of expertise and provide expert-level technical and strategic consulting to ensure that assignments align with client needs.
  • Leverage your breadth of experience and knowledge from working across multiple clients, projects, code and regulatory frameworks, and/or market segments and geographies to align project scopes with client objectives to deliver extraordinary client value.
  • Lead the development of team technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
  • Direct, coach, and support teams of staff in quality execution of multiple projects simultaneously within your technical practice area and specialty.
  • Be sought after to provide leadership for staff at varying levels with expert mentoring and coaching to support alignment of staff with market and client needs and support the growth and innovation of our practice areas.
  • Enhance company visibility by achieving leadership positions in external organizations and leveraging your role to advance company relationships with stakeholders, organizing conference sessions, publishing technical papers, etc.
  • Lead large project technical evaluations and communications, design and contract package development, construction procurement support, and function as certifying Engineer of Record and/or Subject Matter Expert on geotechnical projects.
  • Lead teams performing construction quality control, including field/laboratory testing.
  • Lead all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.
  • Serve as a senior technical reviewer and primary technical reviewer signatory for complex or higher-risk geotechnical deliverables.
  • Support proposal development, interviews, client relationship management, and business-development activities for public- and private-sector opportunities in Washington.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 16+ years of related professional experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer license in Washington.
  • Senior-level experience planning, executing, and reviewing complex geotechnical projects in Washington.
  • Knowledge of Washington geology, subsurface conditions, engineering practices, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including verbally communicating and presenting project information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience developing geotechnical scopes, budgets, technical approaches, and proposals.
  • Experience serving public- and private-sector clients.
  • Ability to serve as a senior technical authority and reviewer for complex or higher-risk deliverables.
  • Demonstrated record of supporting client relationships, identifying opportunities, and winning profitable work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, quality assurance and quality control, risk management, and professional standards of practice.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience presenting at conferences or contributing within professional organizations.
  • A passion for continuous learning, staying at the forefront of industry developments, and contributing to innovation within the company.

The salary range for this position in Seattle, WA is $160,000 - $200,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market. This role is eligible to participate in the company's performance-based bonus program. This bonus program is based on overall company performance and the results achieved compared to peers.
