Position Overview

The Senior Forensic Accountant or Lead Forensic Accountant conducts complex forensic accounting work and provides forensic accounting advice to Commission staff. The Senior or Lead Forensic Accountant also testifies to their forensic accounting work and qualifies as an Expert Witness in forensic accounting. In addition, the Senior or Lead Forensic Accountant trains forensic accounting staff within the Commission and represents the Commission on forensic accounting working groups.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Conduct forensic accounting work on the most complex, contentious, and when applicable high profile and unique cases investigated by Commission staff
• Lead interviews of complainants, wrongdoers, and other witnesses
• Prepare comprehensive forensic accounting schedules, present evidence, and make recommendations for further action as required, including formal hearings, prosecutions, and settlements
• Testify to their forensic accounting work before tribunals
• Participate in hiring, and training of forensic accountants within the Commission
• Provide advice, information, and guidance regarding accounting issues to Commission staff
• Represent the Commission on forensic accounting working groups
• Provide forensic accountant training to Commission staff and other securities regulators

Qualifications

Senior Forensic Accountant qualifications:

• A minimum of seven years' experience in securities enforcement work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Chartered Professional Accountant designation
• Certified in Financial Forensics designation
• Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is an asset

Lead Forensic Accountant qualifications:

• A minimum of ten years' experience in securities enforcement work, including conducting detailed funds tracing in complex and contentious investigations, presenting evidence, and testifying in Commission hearings and criminal trials
• Experience providing forensic accounting evidence as an Expert Witness
• Chartered Professional Accountant designation
• Certified in Financial Forensics designation
• Completion of the Canadian Securities Course

Salary Range

The salary range for Senior Forensic Accountant (minimum of 7 years of relevant experience) is $109,345 (minimum) - $142,007 (midpoint) - $174,667 (maximum).

The salary range for Lead Forensic Accountant (minimum of 10 years of relevant experience) is $126,336 (minimum) - $157,509 (midpoint) - $188,680 (maximum).

The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate's relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions, and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
