Overview

Job Summary

 

The ideal candidate will provide program management support for the Department of Air Force for space acquisition programs and initiatives. This role assists in planning, coordinating, and executing program activities to ensure successful delivery of space capabilities supporting Air Force and U.S. Space Force missions.

 

The specialist works closely with SAF/SQ leadership, program executive offices, Space Systems Command, and other stakeholders to support program planning, performance tracking, and acquisition execution. The position ensures that program activities align with the Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Air Force for acquisition of policies, schedules, and mission priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The Space Program Management will:

  • Provide program management support for space acquisition programs and initiatives within SAF/SQ
  • Assist in the development and coordination of program plans, schedules, and execution strategies supporting space capability development
  • Monitor and track program cost, schedule, and performance metrics to support effective program oversight
  • Support preparation of program reviews, status reports, and executive briefings for Department of the Air Force leadership
  • Coordinate with program offices, engineering teams, contracting organizations, and financial management staff to ensure integrated program execution
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of program documentation, including risk registers, schedules, and performance reports
  • Support planning and execution of acquisition milestones, program reviews, and decision events
  • Track and manage action items, taskers, and program deliverables across multiple stakeholders
  • Analyze program performance data and provide recommendations to improve program execution and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with DoW and Department of the Air Force acquisition policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
Requirements

Skills and Experience

 

The Space Program Management must have:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance preferred, with SCI eligibility
  • Experience supporting space acquisition programs or program management activities in a DoW, Air Force, or Space Force environment.
  • Knowledge of DoW acquisition processes, program life cycle management, and defense acquisition policies
  • Familiarity with space systems, satellite programs, and national security space missions
  • Experience tracking program cost, schedule, and performance metrics
  • Ability to support development of program plans, reports, and executive-level briefings
  • Experience coordinating with program management offices, engineering teams, and acquisition stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple program activities in a complex and fast-paced environment

Education and Certifications

 

The Space Program Management must meet the following:

 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in financial management, Business Administration or related field

Preferred

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), or Program Management
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification (DAWIA / DAWIA-equivalent) in Program Management or Systems Engineering
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
  • Program management or acquisition-related certifications relevant to DoD space acquisition programs

Security Clearance

 

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
