Position Description & Qualifications

As the Senior Fleet Performance and Maintenance Lead, you will be on a dynamic team, supporting Team Submarine In-service Program Office. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact on our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Team Submarine's Submarine COLUMBIA Class Program Office is responsible for: The construction of COLUMBIA Class submarines, financial and budget management, shipyard support of submarines, vendor support of submarines, logistical support, quality assurance (SUBSAFE), and post-delivery submarine certifications and test programs.

The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

In this role, you will:
  • Report directly to the PMS397L Principal Assistant Program Manager and as required, to the Product Support Manager for mission support tasking, assist in strategic planning, and using your experience, provide recommendations in the optimization of mission operations.
  • Document, refine, and report on Fleet and Shipyard adherence to requirements, including the detailed documentation and reporting of requirements.
  • Participate in the development of project key events and milestones.
  • Monitor and assess project performance and execution.
  • Provide operational planning and execution support.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support in the management of mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communications and coordination between PMS 397, SUBMEPP, Electric Boat, Trident Refit Facilities, and other organizations.
  • Coordinate with PMS397 maintenance team personnel as required to provide input and advise in the solution development of complex issues.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions as applicable, including but not limited to reviewing maintenance procedures or other technical documentation for accuracy and compliance to established requirements.
  • Evaluate CLB Logistics Products for adequacy to meet the fleets' requirements and provide recommendations for ways to improve as required.


To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • An Active and Current DoD Secret Clearance.
  • US Citizenship.
  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • 15 years of related/similar experience.
  • An advanced MS Office skillset to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment accepting emergent tasking with little to no supervision and/or direction.
  • Discretion in performing specified work requirements.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with a vast team of diverse professionals.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines, as well as work independently and with sufficient knowledge to present projects to senior management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Strong understanding of submarine maintenance and system performance processes.
  • Recent work experience associated with TRF Kings Bay and/or TRF Bangor.
  • Experience with Program Management Institute (PMI) Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience in creating detailed decision support materials for senior leadership.
  • Experience in providing feedback to programmatic documentation.
  • Experience in reviewing test procedures and requirements documents.
  • Ability to travel 25%.
