Job Title: Senior Financial AnalystJob DescriptionThe Senior Financial Analyst provides leadership in financial reporting, analysis, and core accounting support while driving process improvements and supporting strategic decision-making. This role prepares accurate and timely financial statements, ensures audit and regulatory compliance, and partners with operational leaders to enhance financial literacy and performance across the organization.
Responsibilities- Lead the preparation of journal entries for complex transactions and month-end adjustments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies promptly, and maintain organized, audit-ready working papers.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and performance dashboards to support management reporting and decision-making.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including developing templates, analyzing trends, and preparing briefing materials for leadership.
- Integrate financial, statistical, and Ministry data to support complex analysis and evidence-based decision-making.
- Coordinate and compile supporting documentation for external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to auditor requests.
- Prepare Ministry and regulatory submissions in accordance with MIS Standards and MOHLTC requirements.
- Maintain and improve processes across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, trust accounting, and general accounting.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging, follow up on outstanding balances, and support effective cash flow management.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, Ministry guidelines, and audit-ready documentation standards across all finance functions.
- Develop and maintain clear, up-to-date process documentation for all finance activities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen internal controls, and enhance data quality.
- Support system improvements by refining processes, strengthening data integration, and contributing to finance modernization initiatives.
- Partner with operational leaders to build financial literacy, provide analysis for decision-making, and translate financial results into actionable insights.
- Contribute to special projects, strategic initiatives, and evolving finance needs as assigned.
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment, applying sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills to manage competing priorities.
Essential Skills- Chartered Professional Accountant (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation.
- Degree in business or a related field.
- 3-5 years of financial analysis experience with a strong track record of accurate reconciliations and insightful budget variance analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and variance analysis.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing journal entries for complex transactions and month-end adjustments.
- Proficiency in account reconciliations and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes, including template development and trend analysis.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize workflow in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in a hospital or long-term care setting, including budget variance interpretation, is an asset.

- Knowledge of MIS Standards and MOHLTC reporting requirements is preferred.
- Experience preparing Ministry and regulatory submissions is an asset.
- Experience integrating multiple data sources (financial, statistical, and Ministry data) into complex analysis is preferred.
- Knowledge of PointClickCare or similar healthcare information systems is an asset.
- Experience reviewing contracts and supporting revenue optimization initiatives is beneficial.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives and documentation of finance processes is an asset.
Work EnvironmentThis role operates primarily on site in a collaborative, resident-focused environment where the team is passionate about making a positive impact. The standard work week is 37.5 hours, typically between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the expectation of being in the office five days per week. There may be occasions when overtime is required to meet deadlines, particularly during month-end, year-end, budgeting, and audit periods. Work-from-home arrangements may be available on an ad hoc basis when needed, but the role is primarily office-based. The finance team uses Microsoft Office applications extensively, especially Excel, and may work with systems such as PointClickCare and other financial and statistical data sources.
