The Senior Financial Analyst, Statutory Reporting role is responsible for NAIC related regulatory reporting, and Manulife/John Hancock's compliance with NAIC regulations for insurers. This opportunity will require you to focus on a critical accounting basis for all US based insurance companies to ensure that our organization is well placed to adhere to the NAIC's accounting and reporting mandates.
Position Responsibilities: - Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reporting statements for the NAIC, downstream business users, and varied internal business partners. Liaise with several Manulife/John Hancock internal customers including Risk Based Capital analysts, US Finance, US Tax, and varied business units.
- Responsible to work with both internal and external auditors to field questions, provide insights, and adhere to Model Audit Rule requirements.
- Ensure that the Securities Valuation Office of the NAIC requirements are met when it comes to the filing of new investment agreements as well as comply with the monthly Asset Valuation process.
- Determine the NAIC report part codes to newly acquired securities. Coordinate with front and middle offices to acquire the details of the securities
- Ensure adherence to the NAIC Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual requirements.
Required Qualifications:- 5+ years experience working in investment accounting and knowledge of various financial products.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience with varied software tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel focused), Power BI, etc..
- University or advanced degree
Preferred Qualifications:- Recognized professional designation such as CFA, CA, CPA, etc.
- Substantial experience in insurance financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with the SimCorp Dimension accounting platform.
- Experience with Hyperion Essbase and other data/accounting tools.
- Familiarity with NAIC regulations.
